Scroll your own reviews and read your replies.

If every one says ""Thanks for the kind words,"" they say nothing.

Forty identical replies look automated, to a buyer and to Google.

Google reads review replies the same way it reads your website.

Each reply is a chance to say what you did and where.

""Thanks, Mike. Glad the parking lot pressure wash in Franklin came out clean.""

That sentence tells Google a service, a property type, and a town.

Forty of those add up.

Replies also show buyers you pay attention.

A property manager reading reviews is checking how you handle people.

A canned line reads like nobody is home.

A specific reply reads like an owner who remembers the job.

Reply to every review this week, good and bad.

Name the service.

Name the town.

Keep it to two sentences, and make each one sound like you.

Two hundred reviews from three years ago do less than ten from this month.

That is how Google ranks profiles now.

The number that matters is velocity.

How fast are you collecting reviews compared to your top three competitors?

A company getting eight a month passes one sitting on two hundred old ones.

Google reads steady new reviews as proof the business is alive and busy.

Most owners collect reviews in bursts.

A push in January, then nothing until a slow week in August.

That pattern does not help.

Ten a month, every month, is worth more than fifty in one week.

The fix is a system, not a campaign.

Every finished job gets one request.

Every review gets one reply that names the service and the town.

Star rating still matters, but the pace is what moves you.

Open your Google Business Profile and look at the date on your last post.

If it is from last spring, Google has noticed.

Your profile is not a listing anymore.

It works like a social feed, and Google rewards activity the way Instagram does.

Two posts a week is the working minimum.

One links to your own site: a service page, a town page, a project.

One links out to a page that says something true about you.

A directory listing or a news mention works.

That second post matters more than it sounds.

It sends Google to a page that confirms who you are.

Over time, that builds the trust that gets you recommended.

A post should inform, build a relationship, or get a call.

A job photo with a plain caption does all three.

Keep it simple and keep it weekly.

Consistent and small beats a burst and then silence.

Most service companies are listed in three places: Google, Facebook, and maybe Yelp.

We help service companies get understood by Google, AI search, and commercial buyers.

There’s a listing site with a four-letter name. It makes a lot of business owners say four-letter words.

I get it. A very charming sales team sold a lot of owners ads that didn’t pay off. They feel burned, and they want nothing to do with the platform.

But the listing is a different story.

ChatGPT cites this site in roughly 80% of its local-business answers. Google’s AI pulls from it too. When a property manager asks an AI tool for a cleaner, a landscaper, or a power washer, that listing is one of the first things it reads.

So here’s my take: keep the listing sharp. Photos, hours, services, reviews. Be wary of the ad service, and if you do it, do it with your eyes wide open.

Most service companies have two different phone numbers online without knowing it.

Facebook has one.

Yelp has another.

Each got copied onto other directories over the years.

Google is now checking whether those numbers match.

Google Posts reject any number that is not the verified one on your profile.

Local Service Ads are showing the profile number even when tracking is set up.

The direction is clear: one business, one number.

When the numbers disagree, Google is not sure it is looking at one business.

When Google is not sure, it moves on to the company whose details match.

A property manager who finds the wrong number gets voicemail and calls your competitor.

Search your business name right now.

Write down every phone number that comes up.

Fix every one that does not match the number you answer.

It is a five-minute check, not a project.

Your business hours are probably wrong somewhere online.

Not on your door. Online.

Your website says 8 to 5.

Yelp says 9 to 5:30.

Your Google profile says 24 hours.

Here is why that matters more than it sounds.

Search engines read every listing and ask one question: is this the same business?

When the answers disagree, they lose confidence.

Less confidence means they rank the company whose details line up.

Hours now affect rankings in real time.

A competitor open later than you can jump above you after 5 p.m.

That is a call you never knew you lost.

The fix is a one-hour job.

Pull up your profile, your website, and the directories that list you.

Make the hours identical everywhere.

While you are there, check the phone number and the address too.
