Miles City Star

Miles City Star The Miles City Star is the local newspaper of Miles City, Mont. We cover all local news, big or small, and are happy to share it with everyone.

Comments are turned on for our posts and we welcome discussion, but require that comments remain respectful. The Miles City Star began as the Miles City Daily Star in 1911. The name was changed in 1957. The Star news staff works to cover every aspect of city, Custer County and area news - whether it be community happenings, school, government, sports, agriculture, environment, business, churches or features about local people and events. Likewise, the AP picks up Star stories of statewide interest and distributes them on its media network. In addition to local news, The Star news staff produces a number of special sections throughout the year featuring local sports, schools, hunting, weddings, home improvement, Christmas, and the annual visitor's guide. If you have any news item that would be of interest to Custer County readers, please contact one of our news staff. We want to hear from you!

Montana Mural Monday: This colorful three-piece triptych mural celebrates the history of Elks lodges in rural communities while brightening the historic Elks Lodge 537 building in Miles City. Prior to its installation in 2025, it was painted on panels in a different location. This artwork was made possible thanks to the support of several sponsors, many of whom are from the area.

This is one of many murals located in our 38 Montana Main Street Program member communities statewide. To see additional murals and to learn more about Commerce’s MMS Program, read the press release here: https://tinyurl.com/3z6ssdpm.
