“Is there an easier way to do this?”
My daughter asked me that simple question last week.
She was trying to record her voice over a track from a popular song… and running into all the usual issues:
- couldn’t hear her voice
- trouble remembering the right settings buried in menus
-digging through a maze of cables to confirm the mic input
I told her, “Not really… this is just how it works.”
Then I paused.
And realized… that wasn’t true.
I had a much simpler device sitting in the closet.
Plug in. Turn one k**b. Done.
It got me thinking…
How often do we accept complexity because:
“that’s just how the system works”
“that’s how we’ve always done it”
“there isn’t another way”
But there usually is.
Sometimes it just takes someone asking a simple question to help you see it.
💡 In business, I see this all the time with reporting:
-multiple spreadsheets stitched together
-manual processes every month
-hours spent just checking the numbers
When often… there’s a simpler way hiding in plain sight.
What’s something in your workflow that feels overly complicated—but you’ve just accepted it?
