Cochlear Batteries. What are they?

Cochlear batteries are specifically designed to meet the needs of patients with cochlear implants. A cochlear implant is the long-term solution for people who are experiencing severe hearing loss. Because it demands higher power consumption than regular hearing devices, it drains batteries faster. For this reason, manufacturers introduced the high-powered zinc air battery intended for high power discharge. It is only available in size 675. To distinguish them from those intended for use in standard hearing aids, size 675 batteries suitable for high power discharge are marked with "cochlear" or "implant" on the package. The tab color may be blue, green, or silver depending on the manufacturer.

Don't forget!

Don’t forget to immediately remove drained battery out of your hearing device. It may swell and become difficult to remove later. Remember also, these batteries contain toxic chemicals which are harmful to the environment. As much as it is convenient to dispose of the batteries in our daily trash, we encourage you to collect your depleted batteries into a container and drop them off at a recycling center near you.
