Our work has impacted over 1,000 small businesses in 10 cities and 3 countries (the United States, Canada, and Haiti) in diverse communities with small businesses that are invisible in the digital economy. How Rebrand Cities Started

Rebrand Cities mission is to connect the 46% of Small Businesses in America that have no website. Our goal is to get 10,000 small businesses online in collaboration with Wordpress. This simple idea materialized after a conversation with Chris Taylor, CMO of WordPress.com in Philadelphia, at the WordCamp US conference in December 2016. The idea was to fly some WordPress developers to Detroit and create websites for local businesses. This materialized into a Super Bowl weekend Hackathon, Feb. 3-4, 2017, where we worked on nine Detroit small business websites during a 48-hour period. The Rebrand Detroit project was the brainchild of Hajj Flemings, Founder of Brand Camp University and was funded by the Knight Foundation as one of the inaugural winners of the 2015 Knight Cities Challenge. which Rebrand Detroit was the foundation for Rebrand Cities. The project objective is to bring the innovation economy to Detroit neighborhoods. The project strategy is designed to help revitalize these communities with a tech and brand enabled strategy that is a catalyst for neighborhoods to become innovation districts.

AI Prompt Specialist Informational Meeting

Join us to learn more about the Citizens of AI: AI Prompt Specialist Micro-Credential, a four-week program offered free to Detroit Citizens. Created through a partnership between DSDT College × REBRANDX, the program equips Detroiters with practical AI skills for work, productivity, problem-solving, and the emerging AI economy.

At the informational meeting, you’ll learn about the program experience, eligibility requirements, important dates and timeline, application process, and have an opportunity to meet the team and ask questions.

I recently spent time in San Francisco with Anthropic for the Claude SMB Trainer Workshop, preparing to help small businesses understand and apply AI in practical ways. It was a gathering of practitioners from around the world who help small businesses solve some of their toughest problems. It was an honor to be selected.

For me, this work is deeply connected to what we are building at REBRANDX | The House of Intelligence and through the Citizens of AI project.

Small businesses don’t need more noise around AI, especially when today everyone seems to be an “AI fill-in-the-blank.” They need the confidence, knowledge, and practical frameworks to understand how to remain human and where AI fits into the work they are already doing.

I’m excited to bring this experience back into the communities we serve and continue our work of making AI more accessible. More information to come.
