Many people don't dislike advertising, they dislike ads that disrupt their experience at inappropriate times. Effective ads meet real needs without interrupting intent.

At BRNDTS, we promote this effectiveness by enabling in-content advertising using unused visual space in videos, all while respecting the viewer's engagement.

Will the ads shown during the 2026 World Cup still matter a few years later?

Global reach remains valuable, but fixed, generic advertising ages quickly. BRNDTS enables programmatic advertising adapted to the viewer, market, language and screen. Without replacing existing monetization infrastructure.

The next era of sports advertising will be measured by relevance, response and lasting value across time.

Trying to find a World Cup ad without Beckham in it.

Celebrity still gets attention. But when the same face appears across watches, spirits, fashion, telecoms, tourism, and every other category, recognition starts to blur.

The issue is not Beckham. The issue is oversaturation.

Brands are paying for distinct association, but audiences increasingly register the familiar face before they register the brand behind it. AI will make that problem bigger by making celebrity likeness easier to scale, repeat, and localize without the natural limits of a real shoot.

The better question for World Cup 2026 is not: who is famous enough to carry the campaign?

It is: what does this viewer care about in this moment?

At BRNDTS, we believe sports advertising should be built around context, timing, audience, and surface. A famous face can still help. But relevance has to do the work.

The best ad is not the one with the most recognizable face.

It is the one that feels made for the person watching.

FIFA World Cup 2026 introduced mandatory hydration breaks, which are good for player welfare but raise concerns for advertisers.

Although three-minute pauses might seem like premium ad inventory, modern fans are often distracted, checking their phones or leaving the room. Furthermore, hydration-break ads do not appear in highlights or clips, where much of the attention now lies.

Sports advertising must adapt to how fans engage with content: live, clipped, and across screens. At BRNDTS, we help sports media partners create new advertising opportunities within high-attention content without interrupting the game.

Let players hydrate, and let ads gain attention through relevance!

The article page is no longer the only place to sell.

News is now consumed through video, live updates, explainers, newsletters, topic streams, and summaries. Attention has moved inside the content itself.

That creates a new opportunity for publishers: advertising that is present in the right moment, clearly identified, measurable, and designed around the reader experience.

In Revenue Replay NÂş7, we explore:

1) why the traditional web page is no longer the only commercial unit;

2) why advertising should be built around presence, not interruption;

3) how publishers can open a new in-content revenue layer without damaging editorial trust.

BRNDTS helps publishers support adaptive and responsive advertising experiences across the surfaces where the story now lives, including in and around video, across formats, screens, delivery conditions, and audience contexts.

The next growth layer is not simply more banners or more pre-roll.

It is new inventory inside high-attention content.

Most advertising still tries to win attention by interrupting it. In the news, that is now the weaker move.

News sessions are short and fragmented. Readers skim a headline, watch half a clip, and jump to another tab before coming back. An ad that blocks the screen is far more likely to end the session than to convert it, and the attention it does seize tends to be resented.

There is a stronger play. Advertising that is present in the right moment, in a format suited to what the reader is already doing, can hold attention without consuming the reader's patience. Presence is not the same as disguise. Integrated advertising stays clearly identified, while deceptive advertising mimics editorial and erodes the trust that the whole model depends on.

Video is the clearest case. If a reader is watching, the place to monetize is in or around the video itself, not a page unit they scroll past. That is the work we focus on at BRNDTS: helping publishers run adaptive, coordinated advertising in and around video, working alongside the infrastructure they already have.

For most of the digital news era, the article page was the commercial unit. That assumption is quietly breaking down.

News now reaches people as video and live updates, as explainers and newsletters, as topic streams and AI-written summaries. A reader can meet a story and form an impression of it without ever opening the article page it came from. Attention has moved inside the content itself, and advertising that only sits around the page reaches a shrinking share of it.

The banner is not dead, and the display still works. But banners alone are too limited for the way news now moves. The opportunity is not to abandon display. It is to design advertising around the experience and to open new inventory inside it without spending the editorial trust that gives the surface its worth.

That is the work we focus on at BRNDTS: helping publishers coordinate adaptive advertising across the surfaces where attention has gathered, working alongside the infrastructure they already run.

Revenue Replay is back with a new issue on client- and server-side ad insertion, and the hybrid future of OTT monetization.

This edition looks at why OTT platforms continue to work with both client-side and server-side ad insertion (CSAI and SSAI, respectively), why coexistence creates new operational challenges, and why web-based OTT environments are reopening the opportunity for more adaptive CSAI-driven monetization.

Inside this issue, we cover:

> Why OTT platforms still need both CSAI and SSAI, and how each model supports different priorities across flexibility, continuity, scalability, and viewer experience

> Why coexistence inside the same OTT ecosystem requires coordination around ad sequencing, competing brands, cooldown periods, audience behavior, measurement, and rendering behavior

> Why CTV has mostly stayed with SSAI, why web-based OTT makes CSAI relevant again, and how publishers can expand monetization without abandoning continuity-sensitive infrastructure

Plus, a recap from SBC Summit Americas in Fort Lauderdale, where conversations around sports, media, gaming, and digital monetization kept pointing toward the same priority: more contextual, interactive, and less disruptive advertising experiences.

Connected TV has mostly stayed with server-side ad insertion (SSAI) because audiences expect stable playback, smoother transitions, and a viewing experience that feels closer to traditional television, especially during long-form sessions.

But OTT delivery is changing. As more OTT experiences become web-based, web-capable, or supported by application-layer environments, client-side ad insertion (CSAI) becomes relevant again as a way to introduce more adaptive monetization opportunities.

The question is not whether CSAI should replace SSAI, but how they can coexist even in the same device. Our latest article explores why CTV became SSAI-oriented, why web-based OTT reopens the CSAI opportunity, and how BRNDTS helps publishers introduce CSAI-driven monetization while working alongside SSAI solutions already in place.
