In the 1800s, connection wasn't a choice. It was the default.

You ran into the same people because there was nowhere else to run into anyone. Church. The market. The porch. Real conversation just happened.

The places that used to do that work have quietly disappeared.

Now connection takes a decision. AI can hold a conversation. Remote work can fill a calendar without ever filling a room. None of that is the problem. It's just what happens when the old infrastructure is gone and nothing replaces it.
