VIO L1608 SCORES AN INFOCOMM HAT TRICK

At InfoComm 2026, the dBTechnologies VIO L1608 earned two major industry honors: the Mix Best of Show Awardand the rAVe [PUBS] Best Live Events Audio Product Award.

Those wins follow the 2025 Mix Best of Show Award for A2Net, dBTechnologies’ high-resolution digital audio and control technology—now factory-installed as standard in every VIO L1608.

Together, the three awards across two consecutive InfoComm shows recognize both the loudspeaker and the engineering platform behind it. VIO L1608 brings true 3-way active line-array architecture into a remarkably compact enclosure, combining substantial output, high headroom, refined tonal performance, scalable deployment,

Lucca Summer Festival brings world-class performances into one of Italy’s most characterful—and acoustically demanding—outdoor settings. For David Byrne’s show, the dBTechnologies VIO system delivered the scale required for a major festival production while maintaining the control needed in a historic square surrounded by reflective architecture. The platform was configured precisely for the site, creating a focused listening experience and keeping unwanted reflections from taking over the space.
With no time—or practical ability—to conduct a traditional soundcheck in a stage location open to the public, and with material, arrangements, and dynamics changing from night to night, VIO’s immediate control through Aurora Net gave the production team the flexibility to adapt system performance in real time while maintaining consistent coverage and control throughout the show.

For David Byrne at the Lucca Summer Festival, dBTechnologies VIO system delivered the control and consistency required for one of Italy’s most architecturally sensitive live event environments: Stone walls, reflections, centuries of history — and a full-scale concert production dropped directly into the middle of it all.

Front of House Engineer Danny Bernini and Systems Engineer Val Sulejmani did an outstanding job delivering a remarkable show with the iconic, talented, and endlessly creative David Byrne, successfully navigating the acoustic realities of an old European square surrounded by historic structures — including the former residence of Elisa Bonaparte, Napoleon’s sister, who was Princess of Lucca and Piombino by appointment of her brother.

The real work lies in control: managing reflections, maintaining intelligibility, containing energy where it belongs, and minimizing undesirable acoustic interaction with the surrounding architecture while still delivering a powerful audience experience.

A special shout out as well to dBTechnologies Technical Team Leader Andrea Brasolin, his entire technical crew — including Jochen Gotzen, pictured here — and the audio production company Show Service behind the event for helping execute such a complex and successful deployment.
