Speaking of keeping things running: it’s Internet Safety Month, and this week we’re talking about parental controls, the gift that keeps kids safe all summer long. 🔒

Here are 3 easy steps to set up parental controls on your home network:
1️⃣ Log into your router settings (check the sticker on the bottom for the address)
2️⃣ Look for “Parental Controls” or “Access Restrictions” in the menu
3️⃣ Set time limits and content filters by device

Internet Safety Month, Week 2: SCAM ALERT! 🚨

Online scams are getting more sophisticated, and rural communities are increasingly targeted. Here are the 5 red flags that an email, text, or call is a scam:

🚩 Urgent language: “Your account will be closed in 24 hours!”
🚩 Asking you to click a link to “verify” your information
🚩 Unexpected attachments from unknown senders
🚩 Requests for gift cards, wire transfers, or cryptocurrency
🚩 A sender address that looks slightly “off” (amaz0n.com instead of amazon.com)

New this year: AI-powered voice cloning scams. Scammers can now mimic a family member’s voice to call and ask for money. If you get a panicked call from a “grandchild” or “relative,” hang up and call them directly on their known number.

Please share this with someone you care about, especially those who may be more vulnerable than others. Knowledge is protection. ❤️

June is National Internet Safety Month! 🔒💻

All month long, we’ll be sharing simple tips to help you and your family stay safe online. Think of us as your neighborhood internet safety guide.

This week: PASSWORDS 🔑

Here are 5 signs your password game needs work:
1️⃣ You use the same password for multiple accounts
2️⃣ Your password contains your name, birthday, or “123456”
3️⃣ You haven’t changed your passwords in over a year
4️⃣ You keep passwords written on sticky notes near your computer
5️⃣ You’ve never used a password manager

The fix? Use a password manager (Bitwarden is a great free option!), make every password unique, and aim for 12+ characters mixing letters, numbers, and symbols.

Tel-Star Comm. Maintenance Notice - Tomorrow, June 4th, 2026, from 5AM to 9AM our upstream circuit provider will be conducting maintenance on a critical mainline that feeds our network. Unfortunately, this means our network will likely go down and you will experience interruptions in service, across all Tel-Star services, that may last the duration of the maintenance window. If this happens phones and connection at the local office will be down as well, so response times may be longer than usual. We unfortunately do not have control over this maintenance window, and apologize for the short notice as we were just made aware of this today. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for being a Tel-Star customer.
