Skydio is the largest U.S.-based drone manufacturer and a world leader in flying robots. At Skylark Labs, we build self-learning AI for physical systems.

Together, we are bringing customizable, self-learning AI analytics to drone operations serving utilities, power, and other critical infrastructure customers.

This partnership is built around a simple premise: different customers need different kinds of AI, and that intelligence must remain dependable in complex, real-world environments.

Skydio has built an incredibly capable autonomous drone platform. Our role is to extend what customers can do with it—helping them shape the intelligence around their specific operations and evolving requirements.

We are just getting started!

Can we send a humanoid into danger before we send a person?

For our Founder & CEO, Amarjot Singh, PhD, this question is personal. Growing up in a military family shaped his ambition to build technology that helps more people come home safely.

Amarjot recently joined Ton Dobbe on the Tech-Entrepreneur on a Mission podcast to discuss what we’re building at Skylark Labs—and how humanoids could one day go first on the battlefield.

To open the door. To check what’s ahead. To help soldiers understand the danger before stepping into it.

There’s hard engineering ahead, but the purpose is clear: build technology that helps protect people.

Humanoids for logistics: one platform completing an autonomous mission—from pickup to delivery, even with objects it was never trained to handle.
This video demonstrates a humanoid completing an end-to-end physical task:

👉 Bends, grips, and lifts a bulky package from floor level.
👉Carries it across uneven outdoor ground.
👉Navigates through a doorway and over a threshold.
👉Raises the load to shoulder height.
👉Places it down safely, releases it, and steps clear.
👉Generalizes from lifting a box to retrieving a hanging backpack.
👉Handles an out-of-distribution object—a bag it was never specifically trained to carry.

The important capability is not one scripted movement. It is the integration of perception, balance, manipulation, navigation, and recovery—and the ability to transfer what was learned to unfamiliar objects and environments.

Our objective is to help machines perform heavy, repetitive, and hazardous physical tasks while keeping human judgment, oversight, and accountability at the center.

Today, it is a package and a backpack. Tomorrow, this foundation could help move supplies through dangerous environments, support disaster response, and reduce the physical burden and risk carried by service members and first responders.

Breaching is an essential military function—and one of the most dangerous tasks our warfighters may be asked to perform.

The first person through an entry point can face the greatest uncertainty and risk. What if a machine could take on that risk first?

This video shows our humanoid performing a breaching task. But the physical robot is only one part of the system. The more important capability is the AI brain behind it.

At Skylark Labs, we are developing self-learning AI models that enable humanoids to learn physical tasks, coordinate their movements, understand changing environments, recognize when an attempt has failed, and adapt their approach.

The objective is not to program a robot to breach one specific door. It is to develop AI that can generalize across different entry points, obstacles, tools, and operating conditions.

For the Army, Navy, and the broader defense community, humanoids could eventually take the first and most dangerous steps of a mission—reducing the exposure of soldiers, sailors, and Marines while keeping human judgment at the center.

The task is breaching. The purpose is protecting our warfighters.

Manipulation remains one of the hardest unsolved problems in humanoid robotics.

To address it, Skylark Labs is developing Artisan with Prof. Jeff Schneider & Zackory Erickson at Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Institute. Through this work, Skylark joins CMU’s growing robotics ecosystem alongside companies such as Skild AI and FieldAI.
