Dr. Jihye Moon is a Research Scientist at Meta who builds multimodal AI — developing the very technology she depends on every day. 🧠 The kind that understands images, video, and speech together.

Born completely deaf in Korea, Jihye didn’t hear sound until receiving a cochlear implant at the age of 20. Years later, AI-powered captioning brought her into the conversation. Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses opened real-time connection anywhere. Today, the technology she depends on and the technology she builds are the same thing.

“I’m not just optimizing metrics on a benchmark. I’m building something I personally need and use.”

Her mother is also deaf, but never had this access. That’s what drives her: building AI that opens doors for people like her mom. 💛
