We've all used those janky spring clip lights from HoDepo and Lowe's.
They never point where you need them and then, they wander around. Don't even think of clipping them to a mike stand!
I found some stainless steel ball mounts that have 3/8-24 threads (the ones in the spring clip are not re-usable!) .
AND THEN,
I found some brass 3/8-24 threaded inserts.
AND THEN,
I put it all together. This is proof of concept. I'm getting some 1" hardwood dowel tomorrow for the finished product.
I also extended the adjustment screw with a small pipe and added a good wingnut to make access to the adjustment easier.
A word of warning: chinese mike stands are 0.6", NOT 0.625 (5/8").

Salamandra is a tool to find spy microphones that use radio freq to transmit. It uses SDR.

Got the RasPi outside, powered over ethernet, picking up zillions of planes out beyond 60 miles. Also, stuck a DS18B20 temp sensor in it to monitor the temperature inside the enclosure.
Only problem is that I have to log in to the RasPi to see the temperature. :(
Or, do I?
Just realised that the Pi has wifi. That means it can connect to the Internet without doing satanic tricks with the router.
Then...
I wrote a program in python to read the temp and send me an email if it goes over 100F.
Stuck that in /etc/cron.hourly so that it runs .... hourly.

You may ask why I do this sort of thing instead of building bombs.

It's my hobby. Building bombs is my job.
Bwahahahahahahahaha!
