Are the days of posting AI content without anyone knowing coming to an end?

Anthropic is adding an invisible watermark to text written by new Claude models.

You won't see the watermark. It is created through patterns in the words Claude chooses, so copying the answer into Word, an email, or a website won't remove it. Some editing may still leave the mark intact, too.

Anthropic plans to provide tools that can estimate whether Claude helped write a piece of text.

Those tools cannot identify the person who used Claude, show what they asked, or tell how much of the finished document was written by them.

A document may carry the watermark even if Claude was only used to rewrite part of it.

Businesses can keep using Claude for drafts and editing, but staff should know that its involvement may be detectable. Anything sent to a client or published under the company name still needs to be checked for accuracy.

Drawing a black rectangle over words in a PDF may only hide them from view. The text can still remain in the file. Use a proper redaction tool, save a new copy, and test whether the hidden text can still be selected, copied, or found.

Give employees clear rules for handling public, internal, and confidential information. Customer records, payroll data, and bank details should have tighter limits on who can access, store, send, or delete them.

RingCentral says a social engineering campaign led to a breach affecting about 1.6 million accounts. Names, email addresses, phone numbers, and physical addresses were exposed. If someone contacts you about your account, call RingCentral on its official support number.

The ShinyHunters extortion group stole personal information from 1.6 million RingCentral accounts after hacking the company in July, according to the data breach notification service Have I Been Pwned.

Researchers checked 10,616 Amazon Web Services access keys that had been exposed online and found 88% still worked. Hundreds gave full administrative access. A leaked key must be disabled or replaced. Deleting the file containing it isn't enough.

More than 9,300 Amazon Web Services (AWS) access keys publicly exposed between August 2022 and August 2026 are still active and valid.

“Urgent” is a reason to take a second look.

A familiar name in your inbox doesn’t guarantee a request is legitimate. Attackers can impersonate people you know, and they may also send messages from a compromised account.

Before changing payment details or sending money, call your contact using a number you already have. Avoid relying on the contact information inside the suspicious message.

UK criminal records agency ACRO failed to investigate security alerts before several breaches, according to the ICO. Up to 10,920 people may have been affected. Assign someone to review every alert, escalate it, and record what was checked.

Unread antivirus alerts and an unpatched content management system exposed Britain's ACRO to three separate data breaches, according to a reprimand notice.
