A recent randomized clinical trial found that mirtazapine (30 mg/day) significantly reduced methamphetamine use compared with placebo in adults receiving routine clinical care. Researchers also reported no unexpected safety concerns during the 12-week study period.
While the treatment effect was modest, the findings are important because there are currently no FDA-approved medications for methamphetamine use disorder.
