What’s a ‘Suicide Cable’?
Storm coming but need to WFH? NP, just crank up the generator (or go buy one) and run some extension cords, right!? But hey, cords are a hassle. Luckily(?) your neighbor found a cheap and easy shortcut on the Internet. Just run a cord between your generator’s 220v outlet and a 220v outlet on your wall - for example a dryer outlet (the cable has 2 male ends). No cords, no electrician and no sense! DO NOT DO THIS! This is known as back-feeding and is extremely dangerous! It can get you and others killed. There is an inexpensive way to do this safely and it is called a 'manual transfer switch'. If you don’t mind paying a little more for added convenience there is also an automatic version. For more info on all of this read the article (not long).

Great little tip to get around having to first copy and paste into a text editor or manually trying to reformat. Note the alternate method for MS Word (and Outlook).

Copy-and-paste moves more than just text around. It often brings along formatting from web pages and other documents. You can paste without formatting in nearly any application to get just the text without the extra formatting. Use this keyboard shortcut.

Better Conferences via Virtual? – Less attendees equal less revenue but it doesn’t have to be this way. Offer a Virtual option. Expect and plan for more modest local attendees but supplement by reaching out to COVID and travel expense reluctant attendees not only out of state, but anywhere in the world! That could really turn a Negative into a Positive!
