Margaret Hamilton is a computer scientist who developed software that compensated for a hardware error during the Apollo 11 mission, allowing the lunar module Eagle to land on the moon. Hamilton popularized the term "software engineering," which some critics initially dismissed as an inflated term, but it is now an important segment of the STEM field. Her work paved the way for women to enter STEM fields, and she’s an inspiration to software engineers everywhere.
