Around 3 percent of all bird species display cooperative breeding traits when nesting. Non-breeding birds become a defense network against predators, alerting to threats and risks in the neighborhood during nesting and post-hatching, allowing the hens to be less vigilant, in better health, with higher energy levels. Now that cattle can get Avian Flu, there's something our fast bird dogs can do for farmers who let us hunt there. Keep migrating wild birds off their cattle yards, ponds and lakes to prevent the Avian Flu.

Not unless you try. Fall longbeard hunters know a post-scatter wait can take time. The birds can come back gobbling, yelping and even strutting after a flock break. Sometimes it happens quickly, often it takes longer if at all. Be persistent.
