Model, pause, wait. 🍂 Finding words on a device takes time, and so does processing what was said. Count to five (or ten) before jumping in. That pause gives the person using AAC space to share what they want to say.

Fall outings are full of chances to communicate! 🍂 At the apple orchard, instead of asking "Show me where 'apple' is," just jump in and use the device yourself. Tap and say "MORE apples!" while you're picking together.

Kids and adults alike learn AAC by seeing it used around them, in real moments that matter to them. When you model on their device, you show how language works without putting anyone on the spot. Taking the pressure off builds confidence and makes communication fun. 🗣️❤️
