Amire Designs Creating unique designs that elevate your story.

Last night I had the urge to create something with no purpose behind it besides just bringing me joy. No stress of having to think about the strategy behind it, testing it to make sure it reads the right way, or any of the five million little things that I think about when designing. Which I don’t mind doing every day, but sometimes it’s good to take a step back and just create.

And apparently my idea of creating something “fun” was painting a vintage inspired matchbook for Griffin Antiquities from Crescent City Series

Honestly, this is something that I needed to do to refresh my spark.

The internet keeps telling authors they need:
• more followers
• more reels
• more platforms
• more content

Meanwhile, I’m over here asking:
“Can readers tell what your book is about in 5 seconds?”

Because before you need more traffic, you need a destination.
Before you need more followers, you need a clear message.
And before you need another social media account, you probably need a nap.

What do you think authors actually need more of?

POV: you want cute author PR items without selling one of your kidneys to afford them 💀📚

Low-cost/freebie ideas for authors:
• bookmarks
• door hangers
• quote cards
• mini playlists
• printable extras
• lore sheets
• “meet the characters” cards
• interactive cootie catchers 👀

Readers don’t always remember expensive merch.

They remember experiences.

Sometimes the most memorable promo pieces are the ones that feel personal, clever, or unexpected.

(Which is exactly why I made my author cootie catcher and door hanger template because honestly? They’re FUN.)

What’s the coolest freebie you’ve ever gotten with a book?

Authors spend so much time worrying about the “perfect” marketing strategy that they accidentally make marketing feel impossible.

Most readers are not analyzing your font pairings like an FBI profiler.

They’re asking:
“Does this look like a book I’d enjoy?”

That’s why clarity matters more than complexity.

Save this for the next time your brain convinces you that you need:

* 14 platforms
* a cinematic trailer
* or a fully branded wax seal collection before launch.

Which slide called you out the hardest?

These are things that I just needed to get off my chest.

I gave myself an hour and said “ don’t over think it”.

Is there stuff I’d change next time, yes. But overall I feel the composition is strong and eye catching.

And another pro tip utilize bold and italics to make things look different but in the same fun family. Your designs will instantly look more polished.

12/29/2025

if your book cover design feels “off” but your can’t explain why…it’s probably not the font or colors.

It’s the spacing.

Giving your text and elements room to breathe is one of the fastest ways to make your cover look clean, intentional, and professional.

Same design. Better energy.

Save this for next time you think your designs are off.
