Happy birthday to me! This is what 41 looks like. I'm also 6 days post shoulder surgery. I had a SLAP Tear so my bicep had to be reattached to my arm and my capsule has stretched out due to my hypermobile ehlers-danlos. My surgeon reattached the bicep and tucked that capsule up.

Here are a few detailed close ups of a piece you've seen from me before... "My First Cyanotype" was a carefully thought out experiment combining a 1940s pattern called "Beach Pajamas" a discarded green fabric that felt like natural fibers to me and potassium ferricyanide and ferric ammonium citrate.

In it you can see milkweed, grass and parsnip flowers. The figure space is mint green and the negative space is cyan.

First I cut the fabric out
Then soaked it in potassium ferricyanide and ferric ammonium citrate (my tub is still stained).
Next I laid it on some plywood and carefully arranged Flora and marbles from my garden around the cut fabric and laid a giant piece of plexiglass on top.
The sun did it's thing.
I rinsed it out, let it dry and sewed it together.
Patterns from 1940 came with no directions.
I think it worked out.

You can see it in "Off the Wall" on Saturday August 8th from 5-7pm.

In this photo you see two helmet covers- the second and third I've ever created. Scroll left to figure out which one of which will be available for viewing at Mosaic Art Collective exhibition called "Off the Wall." It is sponsored by FISHTOES Vintage + Treasures

I run cold and I hate being boring so I made a helmet cover so that I'd be easy to spot in Steamboat, Colorado for my friends and family.

Yes I'm willing to make one for you but I'm not willing to sell you one I've already made because they're meant to go over helmets and your helmet fits you. My helmet fits me. Each one will have to be custom made for a particular helmet to keep your noggin safe. Depending on the choices you make, it could cost you between $300 and $500. Please reach out if you would like me to make you one in time for ski season.

Alt: The first photo shows Amber Nicole in a brightly colored leopard print rainbow helmet cover reminiscent of a Russian fur a hat. Behind her is her father in a black Russian fur hat. The next photo has Dave in front of her giving her squinty eyes and you can see the side of the helmet cover. The final photo is Amber Nicole making a terrible face with the helmet cover on and food in her mouth.

Yet another set I did not document well. My real nails only lasted a week with this color on the top. My nails still are too bendy and pull away from the gel polish. I've never had nails this long before in my life.

I didn't document it super well. But I did have to measure more shelf connectors so you'll get another photo with rulers.

Artists frequently have gardens. Picasso had a garden. Frida Kahlo had a garden. Turns out the dude that carved the Abraham Lincoln statue in DC also had an enormous Garden up north in New Hampshire.

I did a workshop on Friday with Jennice Chewlin of the Chewlin group and realized that my garden is one of the things I look forward to the most in summer. I think I knew that but I also maybe didn't realize how much investing in it invests back in me. And right now with my health I need to make sure I'm making choices that invest in me.

Stick around through the whole thing and you will get to peek at my purple basil, pink celery, my tomato plants, my pennroyal, my horehound, nephthala, and my Jerusalem artichokes. You might see a peek of my baptista and you certainly get a good look at my cherries and pawpaw fruit.
I love purple plants so I plant dark purple basil just about everywhere. It gives a nice contrast to the bright greens. The color and artistry in the garden is rejuvenating for me.
If you visit me this summer, you might get some tasty treats of gold, pink or black raspberries. If we're grilling, you might taste some of my purple asparagus. If it's towards the end of the season like deep towards the end of the season, I might even share a bite of Pawpaw with you.
