The Department of War has suspended CMMC Phase II requirements, but that does not mean cybersecurity obligations have gone away for government contractors.

Phase I self-assessments remain in place, and contractors should continue focusing on NIST 800-171, documentation, access controls, evidence collection, and day-to-day security practices. Waiting for final rule changes is not a cybersecurity strategy.
