Merry Christmas everyone!

here's a quick gift from Gary, to all the Mac (maybe PC too? lol) users out there:

Try holding the 'Option' key more often while typing! such as:

Option + Delete = Deletes a whole word
Option + Left/Right Arrow = Skips a whole word
Option + Up/Down = Skip a whole line

This can bring your typing speed up exponentially if you can train your typing habits to call upon this 'Option' idea fluently,

This is just one of the many potential topics to be covered in workshops hosted by Gary!

Happy Holidays everyone! feel free to reshare this if you find it helpful! Thank you for all the love!

if you happen to be:
- on an iPhone
- running iOS 14 or newer
- and you sometimes see a green (or orange) dot in the top right corner,

that's Apple's way of saying:

"hey you should know, that this app/process just used the camera (green dot) or microphone (orange dot)" -

to help expose privacy concerns among apps that may be abusing the use of your microphone or camera, or even location

iOS 14 includes several major new features and a lot of smaller changes and visual updates. You may have noticed new indicators in the status bar, in the right-hand notch, and are wondering what those are for. These new status symbols show up as orange and green dots or circles that appear above the...

I have been doing this habitually since before this company formed, and I prefer to continue doing this with no mention at all, however -

Any device that I work on goes through a thorough deep cleaning! Dust, debris, lint, whatever it is, it's comin out!

I just want to thank everyone for the referrals lately - it's such a breath of fresh air! thank you so much!

I've worked on so many 2012 and older MacBook Pros lately, all thanks to you! thank you thank you!

and

If you have an iPhone with Touch ID or Face ID, and you want to quickly lock up your phone for any reason,

click the Power button 5 times quickly, to lock your phone and only allow a passcode for unlocking.

(On newer iPhones that button is now called the Side Button, fun fact) This does bring up like "Emergency Call" and the other buttons you see in the screen recording above - but it will also only bring up the Passcode prompt versus Face ID/Touch ID as the next screen.

If you're like Gary, you can go even further to (Settings > Face ID and Passcode > Erase Data) make sure your phone is erased automatically after 10 failed login attempts. It's not an issue for Gary, because his iPhone backs up daily and can be restored later.

This matters to Gary as it's a fundamental concept of privacy: unless you are legally compelled it is entirely your decision to allow access to your information or not.

iPhones are encrypted which makes it nearly* impossible to get into without the correct passcode. This is also why you'll see headlines about Apple denying to help the FBI with iPhones, there literally is no "back door" to getting around an encryption key. You can't give a back door to the good guys because the bad guys will have access too then.

Knowing this information or sharing this information, never implies that you have secrets to hide either - you don't have to be doing anything illegal to understand your rights regarding privacy.

Feel free to share this around post, I'm calling it now that this topic will be getting pretty huge in a time of pandemic/quarantine, and now rioting in Minnesota.

my day could change but I think I'm going to try a buliding a hackintosh today:
- 6-core i5 9600K Processor
- Asus z390-A Motherboard
- Asus ROG Strix 1070 Ti Graphics Card
- said parts are already running Windows 10;
- and ideally hoping to have dual boot by the end of the project

I shall report back on how it goes!

I just want to take a moment, and thank anyone who's talked about Gary, commented, tagged, etc -

The amount of feedback from word of mouth alone has been amazing, your actions are helping out Gary so much more than I can explain here!

I would not be at this point if it weren't for the support of everyone, you guys are wholeheartedly the fuel for Gary's success and I can not thank you enough!

Special thanks too, to Mitch Thalacker - your tagging alone, has led to so many great outcomes, from just random Facebook comment threads - I cannot thank you enough!
