Definitely the most fun I've ever had riding a mountain bike all day with 25lbs of camera gear on my back. The Durango Derby: a one-day stage race in one of the world's best riding locations. Super event, nice work Durango Derby!

Spent all day Saturday lugging a video cam rig, drone, and other heavy goodies around town on my back while riding my mountain bike through four different Durango trail systems. The Durango Derby was happening and I was stoked to be shooting event video... and my bike was the easiest way to follow this cool stage race around town! The video is looking good, will post it when done. For now here are a few video stills (I didn't even have my photo cam on me)

Once upon a time, I was a World Cup mountain bike race mechanic. (Now you know where my business name came from.) These days, I just occasionally show up at bike races for old time's sake, but with my camera. Maybe I should merge the two lines of work and shoot some races in an official capacity. That would be a blast. Who's got contacts at the newly-revived Mountain States Cup? (Shots from today's MSC series final at Purgatory.)

Don't much like wildfire smoke, but sometimes it does lend a certain look to the landscape... we've been super lucky this year, and this day a few weeks back is really the only smoky day we've had.

Shiva moon. Best viewed in a dark room or with a very bright screen. If you can't see the background stars, you're not getting the full effect!
