OUT TODAY: It was a great honor to remaster the absolute classic ‘12 Golden Country Greats’ by Ween for its 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition.

It’s available on 3xLP or 3xCD from RHINO Records online or via your local independent record store.

It’s also available on your streaming service of choice in up to 24-bit/96k sample rate. Qobuz has it as a featured new release today and is easily my streaming service of choice.

The original album was brilliantly produced by Ben Vaughn at Bradley’s Barn in Nashville, and this Deluxe Edition features over 20 rare & unreleased bonus tracks from lo-fi/brown 4-track demos to beautifully produced session outtakes like “So Long Jerry” and a ridiculously tender version of “Fool To Cry” by The Rolling Stones.

Lacquers for vinyl were cut by Jeff Powell and sound amazing.

The packaging is top notch as well featuring a beautiful gatefold design with great photos, notes, interviews, and more.

This reissue was produced by Jason Jones who did a great job putting all this together.

Ween fans are lucky to have such a great ambassador at RHINO going through their catalog and there may or may not be a lot more to come.

Due to the high volume/fast-paced nature of mastering it’s honestly pretty rare that I get the chance to sit down and listen to an entire finished product from start to finish as the end user, but this Sunday morning was good timing to do that (while watching the F1 Hungarian Grand Prix).

This recent Sheryl Crow Vinylphyle reissue from uDiscover / Universal Music Group already arrived so I put it on and wow.

Having done the new remaster/vinyl pre-master/assembly here I hadn’t heard this in a few months but Jeff Powell’s lacquer cut really does this album great justice. The sound quality is incredible.

There is much debate about whether vinyl or digital sounds better and there is no way to make a blanket statement about that because it ultimately depends on many factors such as the sources used and who does the work in terms of pre-master, cutting, metal plating, and the actual pressing itself.

Despite having more limitations than digital, when done right and with a little bit of luck vinyl can sound really great, especially on a playback system that can reproduce all the detail that is there.

This release has excellent packaging as well with great liner notes from Jim McDermott and cool photos of all the DAT sources used to reconstruct and remaster this classic album.

You can still order this from until all 3000 units are sold so if you love this album and enjoy listening to vinyl I highly recommend picking this one up.

Honored to have remastered Sheryl Crow's self-titled album for its first ever vinyl release here at Mystery Room Mastering.

It's hard to believe this one never came out on vinyl but due to the era and running time it wasn't a great candidate for vinyl, but the new Vinylphyle series from Universal Music Group which has been getting great reviews from vinyl enthusiasts is a great place for its vinyl debut.

Lacquers for vinyl were cut by Jeff Powell.

Sheryl Crow’s self-titled 1996 sophomore album is coming to wax for the very first time as part of UMe’s Vinylphyle series.

Today this great new album from Brazil’s Banda AL9 is out via Wicked Cool Records.

It features some updated mixes of their classic songs plus some new songs, including “Indigo Skye” written and produced by Stevie Van Zandt.
