Jackalope Creative is led by husband and wife team Kaleb & Tamara Willey. The design style of Jackalope Creative is known for bold style and timeless principles. Having spent their adult years near Seattle, WA, Kaleb and Tamara now reside in Lubbock, TX where they appreciate the camaraderie among local businesses within their community. Jackalope Creative is happy to announce the newest addition to our staff: Chloe Walser. Chloe is a recent graduate of the graphic design program at Texas Tech University and a great asset to the Jackalope Creative team.

We’re incredibly proud to see our work come to life for Alabama’s Loblolly Fest! We wish Drake, Harrison, and the entire Loblolly team an incredible festival this weekend!

For the artwork, we centered the design around a red-tailed hawk, a bird with deep ties to the regional folklore. Its wings frame a scene featuring the Loblolly pine, the festival’s namesake, bringing a little storytelling and local significance into the design.

Scroll to the end for a peek behind the scenes! You’ll see Kaleb working through a whole medley of poses for the hawk, searching for a dynamic silhouette that also created enough room to tell the story, and a composition that works across a lot of vertical displays (like posters to social graphics).

No festival is complete without some great merch! Our friends at Johnny Velvet - custom tshirts, embroidery, & designs Lubbock brought the designs to life, including a limited run of hand-numbered, screen-printed posters, plus shirts, hats, and more that will be available this weekend!

We loved getting to work on this shirt design for Fellow American’s album release show at Tinier Desk Concerts!

We’ve been fans of dont trip for a while, and the new album is so good. It’s always extra fun getting to collaborate with artists we genuinely love, and this one is even more special because will be playing with Fellow American at the show.

Releasing an album is a huge accomplishment, so we like to do something extra to celebrate: everyone who comes to the show on Oct. 10 gets one of these shirts for free. There are still tickets available, so grab ’em while you can!

Fun backstory on the design: it’s loosely inspired by a shirt I (Kaleb) bought from Seabird at Rock the Desert festival sometime in the early 2000s. It was one of the first pieces of band merch I ever bought and one of my earliest memories of live music. Since this will be my first time playing music in a while, it felt fitting to let this design reach all the way back to one of those early memories.

We loved working on this retro mascot design for Kaleb’s high school in Forsan, TX. This design is for the “Buff Brigade:” a group of elementary kids who get to run on the field with the football team under the Friday night lights.

We were so excited for the opportunity to collaborate with our friend Haley Lefever and work on something for Forsan Buffaloes. Thank you kindly!

HELLO, INFINITE WEST!

☀️ We’ve been working behind the scenes on something special for our city. Hello, Infinite West is a new magazine celebrating the community and culture of Lubbock, TX. Each issue will feature local culture, food, fashion, poetry, events, and more! Hello, Infinite West is FREE and you’ll find it distributed through local businesses in Lubbock beginning October 2nd.

💌 Want to help and possibly be included in the magazine? We are looking for Lubbockites to handwrite ‘love letters’ to Lubbock. You can stop by the Jackalope office and do that in-person or mail it. We’ll select a few of our favorites and they’ll be published alongside the cover article in this first issue. Submissions need to be received by Friday, September 11 to be considered.

We loved crafting this peaceful and serene brand identity for Green Pastures Birth Support. Our friend Danae wanted a brand that reflects Psalm 23 and the care she provides for her clients. We love the details of the flowers in the sheep, which also correspond to her own children’s birth flowers. It’s those sort of small details that make a brand personal and memorable. Check out this poster we made for an event with our friends from Frankie’s Provisions! They’ll be hosting their rotating ‘Supper Club’ at the Jackalope shop this weekend and we wanted to create something to commemorate the occasion.

Our goal was to design a poster that honors the traditional standards for Japanese dragon designs to reflect the Japanese menu that will be served by Chef Ethan Staggs.
