When it comes to cybersecurity, communication is critical.

Clicked a suspicious link? Entered your password somewhere you shouldn’t have? Tell your IT team immediately. The sooner IT knows, the sooner they can secure affected accounts, investigate what happened, and limit the potential impact. Waiting only gives an attacker more time to act.

Even if you’re not sure anything happened, it’s always better to report it.

Phishing is evolving. Our habits have to evolve with it.

For years, spelling mistakes and awkward wording were easy signs of a phishing email. With AI, those clues aren't as reliable anymore.

Scammers can create polished, convincing messages that look legitimate while trying to steal credentials, sensitive information, or money.

Keep an eye out for unexpected requests, unusual links, urgency, or anything that feels outside the norm. When in doubt, verify the request through a trusted channel before you click or respond.

Blue Layer's annual food drive benefiting Lubbock Meals on Wheels has officially wrapped up, and together we collected 4,433.14 pounds of food, beating our previous record of 3,500 pounds!

After a month of friendly competition, The Applesauce Avengers took home the win! 🏆

A huge thank you to our employees, customers, friends, families, and local businesses who donated and helped make this possible. The competition may be over, but the real win is benefitting our community. 💙

And as for the losing team... stay tuned. We haven't forgotten about those consequences!

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month!

Cybersecurity isn't just about having the right technology in place. It also depends on the everyday decisions we make when opening an email, creating a password, approving a login, or clicking “remind me later” on that update... again.

Throughout October, we'll be breaking down some of the habits that can make a big difference. Like how to spot a phishing attempt, using Multi-Factor Authentication, using your password manager, and more.

Because when it comes to cybersecurity, awareness is one of your first lines of defense.

The competition is ON at Blue Layer!

Our annual food drive benefiting Meals on Wheels has officially kicked off for September and this year we're trying to beat our previous donation of more than 3,500 pounds of food!

Our employees have been divided into teams, and every donation counts toward the competition. Drop off non-perishable food at Blue Layer, pick the team you want to support, and help push them toward the top of the leaderboard.

Pick from one of the teams below (feel free to pick purely based on vibes):
- The Applesauce Avengers
- The Bean Bandits
- The Can Crushers

The team that collects the least will be subjected to an appropriately embarrassing fate. Stay tuned!

Donate food, benefit your community, and help us beat 3,500 lbs.

Tech Tip Tuesday:

AI isn’t magically cracking passwords, but it is recognizing patterns and using your personal information to make better guesses.

Long, unique passwords, multifactor authentication, and password managers can help keep your accounts protected, even as the tools used by scammers get smarter.
