A UK-based company - Yellow Dog - has created a platform for 'sharing' supercomputer power.

It shouldn't be hard to share our books, movies, tools - right? Right!

Yellow Dog is working with Oracle to provide under utilised super compute power to companies that need it, on demand.

Trust is the corner stone for any sharing economy.
Quote from this article:

"Sharing saves people time, money and aggravation. But what really greases the wheels of this fast-growing economy is trust;"

That is why ObiShelf is solely based on who we know - communities that we are already part of. When we are looking for something - before we buy it - let us check with at least the communities we are already part of - like our colleagues at our office, neighbors we know, our friends, groups we constantly interact with, so on.

Big data and more robust identification technology can solve for one of the peer marketplace's biggest problems: lack of trust.

Starting today, ObiShelf is going to be 'communities only'. What this means is that it is no longer 'neighborhood based'. However counterintuitive it may seem for a neighborhood sharing app, we realized that users are more comfortable sharing their items with other users they know, either directly or indirectly. That is why, we took out the functionality that allows someone you do not know asking for your items.

Communities are invite only. Since you are going to invite only people you know, and they are going to invite only people they know, you can be confident that members of a community are completely trust worthy.
