Government agencies have been changing their account login procedures away from a user and password you may have made for their specific website, to having you use an identity verification service when you log in.

Medicare is now making this change. They say "You'll see we've partnered with three leading identity verification services — ID.me, CLEAR® and Login.gov — that you can now use to access your Medicare account on Medicare.gov. These services help prevent fraud and ensure you're the only one who can access your information. And these services are all free to use!
If you already use one of these trusted services with another government agency, like the IRS or Social Security, that's great! You can use your existing ID.me, CLEAR® or Login.gov account to log in to your Medicare account.

Hate that old Gmail address?

After 22 years, Google will finally let you change your Gmail address, which is incredibly useful if you made yours back in 2007 when the service first became available to the general public.

First spotted in a Google support page last year, the search giant is now rolling out this new feature to Gmail users in the U.S. While the company has always allowed users to change aliases in their emails, up until now, they weren’t able to change the name that appears before .com in their email address.

Hmmm. ALL foreign routers now.

If you’ve been putting off a router upgrade, now is the time to act. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) just effectively banned the import of all new foreign-made routers.

In a fact sheet put out by the FCC, the government agency explained that it has updated its Covered List to “include all consumer-grade routers produced in foreign countries.” This move comes after a determination by the White House which found that these routers “pose unacceptable risks to the national security of the United States” as well as the safety and security of its citizens.

The FCC went on to cite the fact that foreign-made routers introduce supply chain vulnerabilities that can be exploited by both hackers and foreign adversaries. This last part is absolutely true and we have seen hackers leverage vulnerabilities in older routers in the past.
