This video highlights how our current “Positive Sum World” can influence the quality of life for everyone. Kurzgesagt speaks to wasted human potential and the ripple down effect with an example of how the child of a farmer in a small rural nation may or may not positively influence the world economy compared to a farmer with a thriving career that gives his child a head start.
Kurzgesagt brings up a valid point that “The more people that want the same things you want, the more likely you are to achieve it” and its true- This is how global economies are built, supply will always meet demand in this “Positive Sum World” we live in. When was the last time you couldn't get your hands o something you needed to survive? Human Capital, however, is extremely underutilized and people are achieving only a fraction of what they’re capable of. Technical skills will become more and more in demand for generations to come as the population grows and the number of jobs remain the same or drop. The 00’s was the first decade where we saw a decline in jobs and total hours worked in over a century.
This goes hand in hand with what we’re building with Social Spaces (btw), that farmers kid with a technical skill can get access and collab with a group that wants what he/she wants to achieve from anywhere on the planet. Our long-term solution to fix such problems is a “Human Capital and Asset Leveraging Platform” that allows for global prosperity in the Reputation Economy.
Any dreams fate will be determined by it’s access to resources and resources come in many forms. We live in a highly skilled world full of talent, the problem that needs work is obtaining access to the right people at the appropriate stage of growth.
People create technology that’s building a more efficiently ran global economy, people just need to be better positioned in life.
