Handheld Pi Zero Deck

So I build this in about a day out of almost all spares. It’s a build of AlleyCat’s Termyte case. Here: https://www.printables.com/model/1347355-acos-termyte-pocket-cyberdeck-read-the-description

The only thing I had to buy was the Xbox 360 chat pad which was about £3 on eBay.

The instructions aren’t super details but it’s all pretty easy to figure out, only challenge was the wiring of that.

I had to modify the case (I posted a remix on printables) as I didn’t have a pisugar 3 lying around, but I had one of the old original ones from YEARS ago (impressed battery was still good) and the holes for cables didn’t line up. I did try and re-do the channels they had but I had clearance issues. As it was a one/two day spare parts build I just did a quick and simple hole.

New £10 Indirect Illumination Focused IR Module Added to My Collection

Found an amazing module on a summer discount at the moment on Tindie. Bought it not expecting too much but discovered the performance on this matches my more expensive £35 modules. As I am in the UK, it arrived through my letterbox within 48 hours. Extremely pleased with the module as I wasn’t expecting much, but for only a tenner an assembled plug and play module like this was amazing.

Made a little demo video to show the flood capability as I could still reach the fan from the end of my landing!

Here’s the link if anyone is curious:

I built the Bee Write Back

made this so easy to build. I thought about using it the way the creator did but I’ve just been having fun getting to know CLI Linux. It reminded me of learning to use Dos and Windows 3.1 lol.

My custom RPi 5 NAS build: 4-bay 3.5” HDD, and fiber optic status LEDs. No more cable mess.

I wanted a clean, all-in-one NAS solution for the Raspberry Pi 5 and Radxa Penta SATA HAT, so I designed this enclosure.

- Storage: 4x 3.5” HDDs (fits 2.5” SSDs as well).

- Power: Internal 230V to 12V (100W) adapter to eliminate the external power brick.

- Status LEDs: Used 1mm fiber optic strands to pipe light from the HAT to the front panel.

- Cooling: Active cooling with a 12015 slim fan.

- Printability: Support-free design (except for the base).

Currently running OMV and planning to add NextCloud for my personal data.

Ubuntu 26.04 works fine with Raspberry pi 500.

Last month I bought a Raspberry Pi 500 and a Raspberry Pi monitor to work on several projects. I spent some time using Raspberry Pi OS, but since I have more experience with Ubuntu, I decided to install Ubuntu 26.04 on my Raspberry Pi 500 yesterday. It works really well, and I was pleasantly surprised by the performance. For now, I can even do coding with VS Code on it. I think it can definitely work as a daily-use PC too.
