blower died within 3 year due to insulation material came loose
Update: I tried the suggestion from the comments to swap the FAN (gray wire, 3rd from the left) with the SPARE (yellow wire) and flipped the power switch back on. I can see the status LED is lit and stay on and I heard the relay click, but the blower fan is still not spinning. According to my troubleshooting, the motor's ECM module is likely dead. It looks like I'll need to disassemble the blower unit to replace that module.

This unit is less than 3 years from a new home, I noticed there is no cold air blowing, and the condenser unit was working, blowing hot air out but the thicker pipe has frost, so I know it was a blower issue, technical came and opened it up, and we found the insulation material covered the intake, the tech checked the wires to confirm there's high voltage coming and he used a short wire to short the blower motors to force it to run, but it still won't start so it was dead and need to replace, cost close to $700 for the labor, the electric controlled motor is under warranty otherwise cost is $1500

Is it common to have insulation material came loose like that, or the blow fan should be installed upside down,so it won't pull the insulation material down and block the fan caused it to failed?

Feeling confused and exhausted not knowing when my another blower will fail like this

Cat houses are one of the worst parts of residential.
But the p**s fumes that probably killed this coil left a really neat pattern on the suction header. Poor thing made it almost 25 years in there with ten cats.

Got this aprilaire 500m installed. Wiring is inside for some reason. hvac guy says its fine and they never had issues with it like this. He says there is no problem, he wont fix it. Should I be concerned and can I fix it myself?

Why is putting a manufacturing date on equipment so hard?
I know that most furnaces nowadays have a manufacturing date on the system, but why is it so difficult to just add a date of manufacture to heating and cooling systems?

Why do we have to look up some cryptic messaging code sometimes with the letters and numbers so just figure out when a unit was made?

Mostly a rant but at the same token if there’s any manufacturers or people that work for manufacturers, what would the additional cost for six ink letters actually be lol.

Supply house of charge would probably be an extra $100 on a unit because it tells you when it was built.🤣

Which one needs to be capped?
Had a tech come out to put in a float switch, took the cap off of the one that’s above p-trap and said air needs to escape.

Just want advice, which one needs capping?

We bought a new house last year. I have a question. We bought a new house last year. I have a question.
In my basement, I have a unit or takes air in and out, and I can’t seem to get it to work. I have power my multimeter shows power no issues anywhere when I test the chip board when I turn it on it sounds like it wants to kick on, but that’s about it. The filters are almost brand new I don’t think the last home owner ever used it much, just wondering if they have any troubleshooting advice or like a factory reset or something

Removing the top grill on an old York condensing unitHello. Our house was built in 1979 and I have what I believe to be the original HVAC equipment, which is working well. I know it’s inefficient, but we don’t use it that much (very mild climate) and I’m wary of replacing a system that’s still working.

Anyway, the condenser is an old York unit that has some surface rust on the top grill and side covers that I’d like to clean up and paint. As you can see in the pictures, the fan is mounted to the bottom of the top cover. My question is what is the best way to separate and support the fan so I can remove the cover?

Thanks in advance for your help!

can someone explain to me how this works
maybe i’m an idiot but i cannot for the life of me understand how this thermostat in my new apartment works

the building has central heating and cooling with A/C and heating only turned on for respective seasons

it seems like if i have this set to Lo or High the air only turns on when the dial is set to the position in the photo or to the right of it. it’s summer right now, and i’d like to have the a/c on - it doesn’t make sense that i would turn it to the warmer side to make that happen but it seems like that’s what i’m supposed to do?

Protecting my AC condenser from bears
My AC condenser was irreparably damaged by what had to be a bear- perhaps trying to flip it like a garbage can.

How to protect its replacement? It's in a shady location so I don't think a solar-powered device would work. Most of the cages I see online are for theft protection would not sustain a bear attack- they are crazy powerful creatures. Has anyone else dealt with protecting your outdoor equipment from wildlife (bears)? Location: Catskill mountains. Thanks.

Furnace closet
I have this vent inside the closet that houses my furnace and water heater. As far as I can tell it only blows either hot or cold air into the closet at a very high rate. What is the point of this? If I cover it, the air flow coming from my vents increases. Without it covered, barely any air is coming out of my vents.
