Graphic and Novel Studies

I have decided to create a study program grounded in the art of "sequential art", other wise known as comic books or graphic novels. The objective of GNS is to engage the minds of all ages in the unique form of story telling through words and images. Through a series of selected titles produced by some of
the best story tellers and artists in the world, "Life Long Learners" will develop an appre

ciation for the fundamentals of visual arts, grasp literary devices in graphic novel form, and ultimately take this knowledge to a higher academic levels in high school or college courses. I highly recommend Scott McCloud's master piece Understanding Comics" as it will be the center point for the objectives that will consist of the Graphic and Novel learning objectives. As an educator, I believe that comic books is a brilliant multifaceted medium of reading and writing that will serve as a platform for higher learning. It has been my experience as an writer, visual artist, high school teacher, and father of two creative daughters, that "Sequential Art" is a step toward higher learning and creativity.
