Have you ever sat in a meeting and heard the term KPI and felt confused? What is a KPI? How are they measured? What is considered a KPI? Why do they matter?

KPI stands for key performance indicators. KPI's are valuable metrics that allow you to measure performance, and track growth and success over time. Depending on your goals and platform, there are different KPI's that you will want to pay attention to.

Sometimes, it's easy to get consumed in your work and overlook some simple mistakes. Keeping these tips in mind can help elevate your work and take it to the next level.

While these won't apply to every design style or every person, they are great basic things to consider when working.

Finding the perfect stock image can be a CHORE! You want something that reflects the brand, something that doesn't feel sterile, an image that isn't overused, the list of requirements goes on.

Imagery can make or break a design or advertisement.

Unsplash is one of my go-to websites for natural-feeling photos. They offer tons of lifestyle imagery and often have large photo sets for larger projects if you scroll down to the related photos section.

Pixabay is great for vector and cartoon images. I love turning to their vector graphics for inspiration or using them in my projects. It's easy to navigate their site to view an artist or photographer's entire library of uploads if you find someone whose style resonates with you.

Adobe stock is super convenient! If you have Adobe software, you likely also have a subscription to their stock photos. The ease of this integrated platform is unbeatable!

Did you know colors can be used to invoke specific feelings and reactions? Use of color can be used in a variety of ways to influence mood, signal action, and even affect physiological responses. Brand designers dedicate time specifically to picking out colors that will resonate with the target audience and help convey their intended message on a deeper level.

BLUE- Blue is described as a favorite color by many people and is the color most preferred by men. Generally, blue is perceived as a peaceful and conservative color, one that evokes feelings of calmness and serenity. Several of its attributes include peacefulness, tranquility, and security. When marketing and advertising, businesses often use blue to convey a sense of security. Studies have shown that blue rooms make people more productive, so they are often used to decorate offices. Even though blue is one of the most popular colors, it is also one of the least appetizing.

RED- Red is the color that evokes the strongest emotions. Red is intuitively associated with anger among audiences. However, red does not always signal danger and aggression. As you might expect, red is also associated with passion, love, and desire. Many food industry businesses use red in appetizing designs to invoke feelings of hunger and desire. Red can also symbolize power, a relationship often found in our modern world. It has also been shown that wearing the color red increases your chances of winning a sports competition.

YELLOW- Yellow can quickly grab attention, and is found often on traffic signs. When associated with the sun and nature, yellow is often thought to be cheery and warm. Yellow backgrounds on paper and computers can cause eye strain and make text unreadable for screen readers. Yellow can also trigger anger and frustration. People tend to lose their tempers more in yellow rooms and babies tend to cry more in yellow rooms despite yellow being a cheerful color.

GREEN- Green is described as a soothing and calming color, representing nature and the natural world. Green is commonly associated with money, health, envy, and the environment, among others. Studies have shown that green may stimulate creativity, as well. It is also possible for green to indicate a physical illness, as when someone's complexion turns green.

What do these colors make you feel?
