The Foshay Tech Academy students are asking for volunteer mentors. They are back again for the 2015-2016 school year after a summer where more than a third of the incoming 50 seniors completed professional internships at tech and media companies gained through the Tech Academy's annual internship fair, The LA Fund's TIP project and Hire LA's Youth.
In order to continue their success, the Tech Academy is looking for volunteers to come in and work with the students this fall.
The 12th graders are going to work in production teams to develop a project answering a problem they identify in the community - students can code, design, use Raspberry P*s, Arduinos, e-textiles, or any other tools to design their ideas. We need mentors to come and listen to the projects and ask questions and offer advice to help students streamline, explain and produce their idea.
All meeting with seniors will take place at Foshay Learning Center on Thursdays from 1:15pm - 3:15pm - October 1st, 15, 26th and November 19th for a final presentation. Details here: http://foshaytech.weebly.com/get-involved---calling-all-mentors.html
In addition, 10th graders are just beginning their journey. We need mentors to help prepare them for the mock interviews by reviewing resumes and helping coach them for interviews. The Mentor day is October 8th from 11:00 - 12:45 and Mock Interviews are November 12th from 9am - 12:30pm in 90 minute increments. All at Foshay Learning Center.
