Supporting women isn't something that should be done for a single day or month. It's something that should be done every day!

Picture yourself in this community without women. Without their knowledge, bravery, honesty, or compassion. Chances are, you've made some lifelong friendships because of platforms like this one.

I have met some amazing women in this community over the years Some have moved on to other things, but their impact on my life isn't any less meaningful. I believe everyone you meet has something to offer you, whether it's a lesson or a blessing.

In a digital world where there are already so many Facebook groups, slack channels, Clubhouses and other online communities, it's sometimes hard to stay connected and build real relationships.

We're so busy running our businesses, helping others, taking care of our families and just trying to survive, that we start to let those things slip away. I know I am guilty of this too!

In celebration of International Women's Day today, we are teaming up with and to make a positive impact and support by planting trees!

Women play a vital role in protecting, managing, and restoring forests. They are leaders who nurture nature, build thriving communities, and live at the heart of the global forest restoration movement.

With the right resources, they can create more productive farms, raise healthier families, and build more resilient communities.

Many of these women are socially and economically disadvantaged throughout the world. The good news is we can contribute to a more equitable vision that supports their needs while keeping gender equality at the core.

Along with a commitment to sustainability and positive social impact, supporting women and standing up for gender equality is something we believe in. Not just today, but every day.

Custom packaging design for my Apricus project. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Packaging is one of my favorite parts of the branding process.

As a designer, I am definitely guilty of purchasing things based solely on unique or beautiful packaging. These days though, I am a lot more conscious about the items I buy and the ones I design for my clients.

Below are some of my favorite ways to create unique, memorable packaging that looks good and helps the planet too 🌱

✧ Eco-friendly packaging. Plant-based materials are a great option, including mushroom and h**p packaging. There are also materials like cornstarch and compostable options like unbleached kraft pulp, which is also marine safe.

✧ Reusable and biodegradable packaging. More and more brands are finding ways to reuse packaging and make it rewarding for customers. Reusable bags have become a staple for grocery shopping and farmer’s markets, so why not for everyday purchases and online orders? Reusable bags are now being made with a variety of biodegradable materials including potatoes, cassava, and yuca—a root vegetable that actually dissolves In water!

✧ Recycled packaging. Biodegradable and compostable options aren’t a worldwide standard (yet) and can be costly for some. Recycled packaging is a good alternative, and you can find many plastic-free and 100% recycled paper solutions for items like boxes, bags, cartons, stickers and more.

Big change starts with small steps. I am committed to making smarter choices for myself and I encourage you to explore options that reflect your values.

Building a conscious and sustainable brand requires time and effort, but it’s certainly doable. I’m honored to help brands achieve their goal of making a difference and, in turn, making our world a better place 🌎

Sharing some of favorite type foundries today. I feel like type designers in the creative industry are often undervalued and under-appreciated.

As an undergrad, I actually had to design a custom font. It was one of the most difficult and time consuming projects ever. I honestly did a terrible job, but I also gained major respect for type designers and what they do.

What is the purpose of a moodboard or visual inspiration board?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The reason I personally love them and use them in my design process is simple—they help me brainstorm and get my creativity flowing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I use moodboards so I can experiment with a variety of ideas before anything is set in stone. Then I play with color, shape, texture, pattern, type and other details until I find the right balance of visuals and emotion.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Trying to convey emotion using visuals isn’t a quick or simple process. It takes time, careful thought, creativity and strategy. Before you can tap into emotion, you have to understand the brand, their values, their goals, and the needs of their audience.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To dive deeper into the emotional aspect, I always ask a series of questions before and during the visual exploration phase. I reference these often throughout the process.

For example:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✧ What goals is the client trying to achieve?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✧ What specific feelings are they trying to convey?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✧ How will their audience interpret the visual direction?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I enjoy the moodboard process and my clients appreciate the thought behind it, but I always make it clear that a moodboard is intended for visual inspiration purposes. It’s much more of a guideline than a rulebook.

If needed and appropriate, the creative direction can change slightly or even take a completely different route. At the end of the day, every brand is unique and deserves to stand on its own ✨
