ICE kept most offices open during the government shutdown. But not the one that inspects detention facilities. Not the one investigating deaths.

At least 17 people have died in ICE custody in 2026. One per week. The oversight office created to prevent those deaths?

Shut down.

This is not a political issue. This is a human one.

Kevin González didn’t wait for a system that kept failing him.

Parents emergency US visas denied. Arrested at the border. Weeks in ICE detention.

So he check out of the hospital and flew to them. Sick. Dying. Determined.

They had one day together before he passed on Mother’s Day.

Nothing is stronger than love. Period.

Rest in Peace, Kevin. Your story will not be forgotten. 🌍
