KSDโฏโฏ Seeing the 963โs in GTP throw it back to the iconic colors that stole the spotlight during the early 80โs of grand touring racing on a global scale. Itโs a car that was extremely hard to miss, unless you suffer from partial color-blindness, then I can understand there being a struggle. In irony, one of the most popular racing liveries in auto racing history was almost on accident, but saw the light of day thanks to founder Steve Jobs and his soft spot for German design (and some small-talk with racing legend Bob Garretson). With the strong support from the sales of the user-friendly computer from 1977 that would dominate home offices and K-12 classrooms, and the upcoming release of the business-oriented the same year, the #935 K3 was by far the perfect canvas to fly the six-banded rainbow colors we know and love. The livery would only run one season being the 1980 IMSA GT Championship under Dick Barbour Racing, the highest finish being a set of P2 finishes at Riverside and (formerly known as Sears Point). But the big break came from their run in the 1980 , where even though the Nยบ71 entry would prematurely retire with engine troubles 14 hours under race competition, it was a truly bold advertising success, with Apple going public just a few months later in December. With the recent throwbacks run at Laguna Seca, I got the idea of making my own spin on the iconic Barbour livery on the Silvia S15 Touring Car with the rear duckbill addon and decided to put said idea into motion. Along with some design tweaks to fit the S15 bodyโs silhouette, I was happy with the overall result, but the satisfaction wasnโt enough. I wanted a bit more of a challenge, so I started digging around different advert snips from the 80โs by Apple themselvesโฆ [CONTINUED IN COMMENTS]
