As you know, Longmont has had a dream of a bigger, higher quality live music venue for a while. We understand the constraints we're working with at Bizarre Electronics, and we think you deserve better. Now that the smaller venue market has the wonderful Drifters Thrift Bar & Event Space, we want to focus on the next level of production for our events.
Sonarium is our next step toward that dream. From now on, all events we run will be Sonarium events, with the same team behind them, led by Lunar Lux Entertainment. All events are also now fully audio&video recorded on the best equipment we can get our hands on and we spare no expense on the time and gear to make the result look and sound great.
As we host more events outside of live music at the shop (Bizarre Electronics), it makes sense to separate what we offer, so you can find what you need and have a better experience.
We'll keep the "100% goes to the artists" model, but we need your help to move into a bigger, better location and to be sustainable. So far Luna and I have put in countless hours and $600 to $800 per event in promotion, paying artists extra out of our own pocket, and we will keep doing what we can to support the scene.
We are currently discussing a few properties, and our dream spot is about 4 minutes from downtown. It already has all the electrical, plumbing and fire systems built, so it's perfect for our use.
That said, it's not a cheap dream.
So we're looking for two things: community support, and private investors. However we get funded, we promise affordable, NOTAFLOF (no one turned away for lack of funds) events and a safe space for everyone who attends.
