The Weight of the Headset, by Casey Rives.
National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is a time for appreciation, but also for understanding. Eventide Communications presents “The Weight of the Headset,” written by Casey Rives, Client Solutions Consultant, who reflects on the mental and emotional burden carried by 911 professionals and the need for recognition, advocacy, and stronger support for the people behind the headset.
Her perspective is a reminder that telecommunicators are often the first steady voice in a crisis, even as their work remains underrecognized. Agencies that value their teams must also consider the tools, leadership, and resources that help sustain the people doing such work.
