Tim Dougherty teaches Guitar & Bass here at Tone Tailors and here's a glimpse into his teaching perspective:

"I've had a lifelong passion for learning, and especially, teaching. With extensive knowledge of music theory, I can demystify music’s secrets for you, helping you to develop your ears and chops along the way, to learn what YOU want to learn, guided expertly down your own judgement-free personal path, not a “one-size fits all” curriculum.

You do NOT need to read standard notation to learn with me; you only need the desire to understand the role of your instrument in music and the time spent practicing and applying what you learn."

~ Tim Dougherty

Sounds pretty fun and enriching to us!! That’s him on the previous post by the way!

April 29, 2023- Our own Mark Ryan, playing some jazz with Hassan Shakur on Bass, Steve Rudolph on Keys and Larry Marshal on Drums. There's a chance that they're playing some Wes Montgomery in this picture but who knows for sure.

Mark is a bonafide 'Jazz Cat', you could say. Mark is as 'The real deal' as you can get if you’re interested in upping your jazz skills. He's also fantastic with all levels though too, such as a complete beginner. He's kind of our Yoda in that way, but you dont need to fly to Degobah to find him...Just 617 N. Prince St...Tone Tailors.

Meet Mark Ryan. He offers guitar, bass, and theory instruction here at Tone Tailors. Mark teaches students of all ages and at all levels and has done so since 1983 and has had the pleasure of working with some great students along the way; such as all state and all district jazz guitar and bass winners. In addition to that, he has guided many rock guitar and bass players out there working professionally, including three students who have been employed at the American Music Theater, one of them currently.

Mark has also taught many of the other instructors in the area. His most well known student by far is Cedric Lawson, who you can hear playing keyboard on Columbia Records with Miles Davis. He has worked together professionally with Cedric and was thrilled when he asked Mark to help him with the guitar.

The company Mark keeps/has kept musically, reads as a who's who of the jazz world. He is as 'the real deal' as it gets and is simultaneously just as wonderful with complete beginners and kids as well.
