A lot of the work that makes those projects possible happens early. Site preparation, erosion control, trenching, and infrastructure work help ensure everything is ready once construction ramps into full swing.

Thanksgiving began in the early sixteen hundreds when the settlers in Plymouth survived their first winter with help from the Wampanoag people. Their three day harvest gathering in sixteen twenty one was not called Thanksgiving and it was not an annual event. Over time different colonies held their own days of thanks until the idea moved toward a national tradition. In eighteen sixty three President Lincoln declared a national day of Thanksgiving. In nineteen forty one Congress set the permanent date as the fourth Thursday in November.

The heart of the holiday is simple. Gratitude. Reflection. Connection. Gratitude for the good in front of us. Reflection on both the cooperation and the hard history behind the tradition. Connection with the people who give us strength.
