SHINNSTON, W. Va. (Oct. 19, 2026) — For the first time in his career, Brandon Sheppard is a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series champion.

The five-time World of Outlaws Late Model Series champ clinched his first Big River Steel Championship with a runner-up finish in Sunday’s rain-delayed Dirt Track World Championship at West Virginia Motor Speedway.

The Shinnston, West Virginia-based Rocket1 Racing team secured the $250,000 payday, finishing the season 55 points ahead of 2025 series winner Devin Moran.

“It sounds so sweet, honestly,” Sheppard said. “It hasn't sunk in yet, for sure, Man, I just can't think (Rocket co-founders) Mark Richards and Steve Baker enough for taking a chance on me all them years ago.”

Weather played a role in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series season finale, pushing the weekend’s schedule back a day at the newly reconstructed 3/8-mile oval.

During Saturday’s dual preliminary program, Sheppard won his heat race before delivering a consistent performance in his 25-lap feature, where he started and finished third.

Starting from the third row in Sunday’s $100,000-to-win Automotive Racing Products Dirt Track World Championship, Sheppard made a late-race charge to help seal the championship. He advanced to third on lap 77 before moving into the runner-up position on lap 90, where he remained through the finish of the 100-lap affair.

Sheppard joined race winner Ricky Thornton Jr. and third-place finisher Devin Moran on the podium, capping the season with his first LOLMDS championship.

MOUNT AIRY, N.C. (Oct. 12, 2026) — Ricky Thornton Jr. couldn’t have asked for a better debut for his brand-new Koehler Motorsports No. 20RT Longhorn Chassis Late Model, sweeping the inaugural UNOH Clash on the Wabash at Eldora Speedway.

The 2024 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series champion collected $10,000 for Friday’s preliminary victory before adding Saturday’s $50,000 top prize. The weekend sweep also earned him a $5,000 bonus from Automotive Racing Products, bringing his total earnings to $65,000 in the series’ penultimate event of the season.

“It worked out, but it doesn’t always work out like that,” Thornton said. “After that, I felt really good until I got to lapped cars. Then every time I got behind a lapped car, I felt like it slowed me down like five seconds. I needed to do a little better when I got to lapped cars. I had a setup a little different than I normally run here. It worked for us, and of course we had a yellow with three laps to go. I’m like, man, Devin is running around the bottom. I knew he wasn’t going to the top fast because I was already out there. So I knew I had to get out there and get a good restart and get off of turn two really well. I ran the last three laps as hard as I could.”

Thornton and the Koehler Motorsports team opened the weekend Friday with a heat race win before outrunning series point leader Brandon Sheppard in the 40-lap preliminary feature. Thornton led the final four circuits to claim his ninth Late Model victory of the 2026 season.

Fresh off Friday’s preliminary win, Thornton returned Saturday and qualified second-fastest in his group before winning his heat race. Starting third in the 50-lap finale, the Chandler, Arizona, native took the lead on lap 26 and held on through a late restart to secure the $50,000 payday and his 64th career LOLMDS triumph.

Thornton remains fourth in the latest Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series championship standings.

LINCOLNTON, N.C. (Oct. 5, 2026) — Carson Ferguson turned a guest appearance in the Cameron Tribble Racing No. 1F into a $10,000 victory Saturday night in the Bill Hendren Memorial at Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway.

After finishing 12th in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series portion of the annual Pittsburgher 100 in the Paylor Motorsports No. 93 Longhorn Chassis, Ferguson climbed behind the wheel of the RUSH Crate Late Model Series entry and delivered a wire-to-wire victory.

"The car was a dream to drive, it’s a brand new Longhorn by Wesley Page. I gotta thank Cameron Tribble for letting me drive it," Ferguson said before later adding, "the car drove itself. On the start of the dash, everybody kinda went to the bottom, so I figured it was gonna kinda do the same thing and jumble everybody up. It left the top open and luckily everything just played out for me."

Ferguson won his heat race in the RUSH Crate Late Model Series portion of the weekend, finished fourth in the dash, then went on to win the 40-lap feature. He crossed the finish line 3.940 seconds ahead of the field to claim his second overal win of the season.

In the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series portion of the weekend, Ferguson punched his ticket into the $50,000-to-win Pittsburgher 100 with a third-place finish in his heat before finishing 12th in the 70-lap finale.

CHILTON, Wis. (Sept. 26, 2026) — The wait is over for Brian Shirley, who captured his first Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series win Saturday night at Brownstown Speedway.

The Chatham, Illinois, racer led all 100 laps of the 36th annual Jackson 100, earning a $56,000 payday aboard the Bob Cullen Racing No. 3s Longhorn Chassis Late Model.

“It sounds great to be a Lucas Oil winner. There are a few things I want to do in my career before I hang up the hat and one of them was win a Lucas Oil race. I wasn’t wanting to end my career without a Lucas Oil win. This is so rewarding, you know we race against the best guys in the country week in and week out and we get our teeth kicked in here and there.”

Shirley opened the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series doubleheader at the Indiana oval Friday by securing the fourth and final transfer spot from his heat race to lock into the preliminary feature. He went on to finish 17th in the 40-lap, caution-free affair.

On Saturday, Shirley backed up the seventh-fastest qualifying effort in his group with a third-place finish in his heat race. Starting ninth in the 100-lap Jackson 100, he steadily worked his way forward before taking the lead from close friend and Florida racer Kyle Bronson on lap 24.

Shirley then fended off a late challenge from Josh Rice to win by 0.646 seconds and collect the $50,000 winner’s purse. His payday was boosted to $56,000 with a $5,000 bonus from UNOH and a $1,000 bonus from Steering Buddy.

MOORESBURG, Tenn. (Sept. 21, 2026) — Dale McDowell helped carry Scott Bloomquist’s legacy back to victory lane Thursday night at Volunteer Speedway.

McDowell drove the Shane McDowell Racing No. 17m Team Zero Race Car to a $12,018 victory in the Scott Bloomquist Memorial Scorcher, securing his third win of the 2026 season in the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series event.

"I hate it for Chris (Madden), he had problems with the right front. Me and him had a pretty equal car there, so you always hate to see that happen, I had to take advantage of that," McDowell said. "This race is all for the Scott Bloomquist fans and the Bloomquist family and this is one of his cars. This was a special place to him and we worked together, him and (car owner) Shane (McDowell) worked really hard together on these things and he accomplished so much in his career. For us to be able to still run these cars and carry that legacy on, it’s pretty special."

The victory came on familiar ground for McDowell, whose Mooresburg, Tennessee, shop sits just a short drive from the 4/10-mile Volunteer Speedway. The Georgia native qualified third-fastest overall before winning his heat race to earn a spot in the evening’s feature.

McDowell stalked pacesetter Chris Madden early, then pounced into the lead when the front-runner retired with mechanical issues. He led the final seven laps en route to his 46th career Southern All Star Series victory and third Scorcher victory.

ROBELINE, La. (Sept. 15, 2026) — Cade Dillard made the most of a busy weekend in Oklahoma, turning a pair of Comp Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) events into a perfect two-for-two run.

Dillard pocketed $9,000 with a Saturday night victory at Salina Highbanks Speedway before backing it up with an $11,000 triumph Sunday at Arrowhead Speedway, giving the Louisiana native a $20,000 weekend aboard his S&S Fishing & Rental / Joel’s Auto Sales No. 97 Longhorn Chassis Late Model.

"I knew that bottom was really good down there early. I just remember from a (past) modified race here, it was really bottom dominant and as that stuff blew up there, on a restart once you packed it down, it would go for a little while," Dillard said after Saturday’s win at Salina Highbanks. "I seen Moyer’s guys signaling to get to the bottom, so I was like 'Well if I’m gonna have any chance, I gotta commit to it up here' and luckily on that (lap-five) restart we were able to get some good runs and get back up there."

Dillard opened the doubleheader weekend at Salina Highbanks Speedway, where both events honored those who lost their lives in the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001.

Dillard outran Kyle Beard in his heat race before fending off the Arkansas native in the 30-lap Never Forget Nationals feature. After taking the lead on lap eight, Dillard remained out front the rest of the way to secure his 16th win of the season.

Less than 40 miles away at Arrowhead Speedway on Sunday, Dillard continued his momentum. He qualified third-fastest in his 15-car group during time trials, then raced to another heat victory to earn a front-row starting spot for the feature.

Dillard took command from the outset and led all 25 laps to complete the weekend sweep and collect his second win in as many nights.

The $11,000 payday at Arrowhead pushed Dillard’s weekend earnings to $20,000 and further strengthened his position atop the CCSDS standings. With nine events remaining on the tour schedule, Dillard holds a 320-point advantage in the championship battle.

Dillard is headed north this week, set to break out his Modified for the 40th annual Speedway Motors WISSOTA 100 at I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. The Modified portion of the event runs Sept. 16-19, culminating with Saturday’s $6,000-to-win finale.

SHINNISTON, W. Va. (Sept. 14, 2026) — Brandon Sheppard was in the mix from the moment the 56th annual World 100 weekend began at Eldora Speedway.

The Rocket1 Racing driver finished third Thursday, returned to victory lane Friday with a $12,000 preliminary win and then charged from the 10th row to finish fourth in Saturday’s $100,000-to-win World 100 finale.

"Any time you can get a win here, it’s just amazing, it feels really good. It’s been a long time since we’ve won a prelim night here, but I feel really good about that," Sheppard said after his preliminary victory. "Our car’s just been really balanced all weekend and it was at the Dream, also. The only difference is we’re qualifying better this weekend."

The 2019 Dirt Late Model Dream winner opened the weekend exactly how the team envisioned, setting the overall pace with a 14.875-second lap to lead a massive field of 101 cars. Following a six-car invert, Sheppard started third in his heat and finished fifth before charging from 13th to third in the 25-lap preliminary.

He again topped his qualifying group Friday, then passed four cars in his heat to finish second. Starting fourth in the feature, Sheppard battled Ricky Thornton Jr. for the lead before pulling away to claim his 18th overall win of the season.

In Saturday’s program, Sheppard finished fifth in his heat before opting to skip the consolation race and use his provisional to start the $100,000-to-win World 100. Starting from the 10th row, Sheppard passed 15 cars during the 100-lap event to cap the weekend with a fourth-place finish.

Sheppard and the Rocket1 Racing team are set to resume Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series competition this weekend as the Sprint Car Capital of the World hosts the Lucas Oil Late Model Nationals. A pair of preliminary events Thursday and Friday will set the stage for Saturday’s $75,000-to-win finale.

Sheppard enters the weekend leading the latest series standings by 55 points over Hudson O’Neal.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Sept. 14, 2026) — The World 100 has a way of making careers, and Nick Hoffman arrived at Eldora Speedway with his already taking a new direction.

Just days after announcing his 2027 move to Mooresville, North Carolina-based Spire Motorsports, Hoffman capped one of the biggest weeks of his career Saturday night by charging from the fifth row to take the lead with 12 laps remaining. He went on to win the World 100 and collect $100,000, his second payday of more than $100,000 this season.

“It's going to take a while to sink in,” Hoffman said. “I didn’t know (if I had) what it took there at the beginning of the race because I was just biding my time. I've watched Dale (McDowell) do that a million times, just creep around that infield long enough to just save my tires. And then it was time to go. I just made sure Sheppy stayed like right in front of me because I felt like he was the best car all weekend and as long as I just kept him at bay there just right in front of me, I felt like I had a shot at it.”

Hoffman opened the 56th annual World 100 weekend on Thursday by advancing from sixth to third in his heat race before improving another three positions in the preliminary feature, finishing fourth in the 25-lap event.

He followed that with another strong showing Friday during the second $12,000-to-win preliminary night. Hoffman finished third in his heat before matching that result in the feature, joining race winner Brandon Sheppard and runner-up Ricky Thornton Jr. on the podium.

On Saturday, Hoffman earned his spot in the World 100 finale by racing from sixth to second in his heat. Starting from the fifth row, he patiently worked his way through the field in the 100-lap crown jewel.

Hoffman briefly slipped outside the top 10 in the early stages before beginning his march toward the front. He moved into third on lap 82 and passed Ricky Thornton Jr. two laps later for second. When race leader Ryan Gustin suffered a mechanical failure on lap 89, Hoffman inherited the lead following the ensuing restart and pulled away to secure the $100,000 victory.

The significance of the victory wasn't lost on team owner Tye Twarog, who admitted afterward that he never imagined his team would reach this point.

“I would’ve never dreamed this,” Twarog said. “I'm the happiest I've ever been in my life, and this is unbelievable.”

In addition to the $100,000 payday, Hoffman was awarded a Rolex watch from Coltman Farms owner Brett Coltman for being the highest-performing driver between the 2026 Dirt Late Model Dream and World 100.

Saturday's victory marked Hoffman's 10th overall win of the 2026 season.

Hoffman will take this weekend off before returning to World of Outlaws Late Model Series competition Sept. 25-26 at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway for the two-day King of the Arch.
