Tyler Erb $100,000 Richer After Mansfield Speedway Triumph
Best Performance Motorsports Preps for Dirt Late Model Dream
ST. MARYS, Ohio (June 1, 2026) — Tyler Erb turned a routine preliminary feature into the biggest payday of his career Friday night at Mansfield Speedway, leading all 40 laps to claim a stunning $100,000 victory aboard the Best Performance Motorsports No. 1 Rocket Chassis Late Model.
What began as a $12,000-to-win preliminary quickly became one of the richest races of the season when a last-minute purse contribution increased the winner's share to $100,000 moments before the field hit the track.
“For $100,000, I kind of rethought my corner entry into [Turn] 1,” Erb said. “Just decided that, obviously you want to get the lead, that’s the most important thing in any race. You want to have the ability to lose the race and win the race. I took off into flight into [Turn] 1, which was no different than Qualifying. Was able to gather it back up, and Ricky didn’t completely use me up there in [Turns] 3 and 4 and I appreciate that. After that, I was like, ‘I led Lap 1, 39 more laps and I’m a hundred thousand-aire.”
Erb’s week with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series began Wednesday at Marion Center Raceway for the rescheduled Connor Bobik Memorial. After taking the green from the 21st starting position in the postponed May 16 feature, the New Waverly, Texas, native advanced 12 spots to finish ninth.
A fourth-place finish followed Thursday at Wayne County Speedway before Erb and the Best Performance Motorsports team headed to Mansfield, approximately two hours from the team's St. Marys headquarters.
Friday’s preliminary feature proved historic as Erb wired the field for the six-figure score. He returned Saturday for the Blaster 57 Special finale, earning a starting position in the main event with a third-place finish in his heat race.
Another generous contribution from Dan and Brenda Niss elevated Saturday’s purse to a second consecutive $100,000-to-win event. Starting ninth in the 57-lap finale, Erb charged forward to record a fourth-place finish and cap an impressive weekend.
The strong weekend vaulted Erb to third in the latest World of Outlaws Late Model Series championship standings.
