With a recent software update that affects only Roku TVs. Roku has decided that if you have an antenna but you do not have internet, you will not be able to use their TV products to view your free antenna channels without the TV tethered to the internet in some form. If you lose your internet connection then it disables the antenna channels. This is another reason why we have never liked the Roku platform for an operation system. Pass the fact that there are 23 identity harvesting programs running in the Roku environment anyway that alone is enough to prove that those devices shouldn't be used by anyone.
My recommendations for televisions for anybody is Sony's number one. Always have been and more than likely always will be. They're just hard to get due to the way they distribute them. Samsung and LG's are close too Sony now easily available. Vizio has been purchased by the Walmart corporation and a yet to be determined what they're going to do with their operating system. They're not going to sabotage the TV antennas, but you will have to have an internet connection to use them long-term because Walmart will be doing forced ads on the TVs that you buy at their new discount program they're getting ready to release. Long story short, if it's too good to be true, it normally is and you really do get what you pay for. Right now at most wholesale clubs you can get a really nice Samsung 55-in TV for under $350. We don't sell TVs anymore and haven't for the past 20 years and this message doesn't mean that you shouldn't go to a local dealer that sells TVs if you have any in your area. It's just meant to prove a point that you don't have to spend a lot of money to get a really nice TV now and you're really not saving that much money after you get done with all of this underhanded dealings of the software that the cheaper brands are coming out with. We're all already watching advertisements constantly throughout our lives. I don't think the companies and platforms need to be strong-arming people so bad when you're trying to sit down and relax and watch TV for a minute.

Advice from Mike.... Don't wait so long to get your tower repaired or removed. This can be unsafe for you as a homeowner and also close neighbors at residential sites.

It's nice to see a product come back to market that we helped with the Beta testing/product improvement on. We now have the new Channel Master residential rotor systems in stock. It actually came out in May of 2025, but we refused them after the initial test models. I submitted a test report to them and they listened to us and others and made the adjustments and now they are of usable quality.
This is for smaller residential antenna systems. If you are using a large antenna for TV or Ham communications, then we have heavier drive units of course.

There are a lot of news stories talking about DIY solar systems that you buy and plug into an home outlet to offset your power bill. Then we have had a few customers call about these items if they are any good. To keep it short... Yes, in theory this will work. It is in fact Illegal to hook up any generation device to the power grid without the proper permits and inspections. I can elaborate if you call the shop, but social media is not the place to discuss much of anything technical.
The power companies have policies in place that protect their workers and you as a home owner. The first step before you buy or design anything is to get a "Net Metering" agreement in place for your property. That is an agreement basically between the power company and you as a home owner. Solar systems work. Solar systems are scale able to fit several budgets.
Problem with solar technology is aggressive sales people, crappy equipment with over sold specs and even worse installations. You get what you pay for so don't burn down your house trying to save $100 a month. Acquire the help of a professional.
