Traveling for the holidays this year? Bringing presents? Well, don't wrap them. The TSA is recommending passengers to wait until you arrive at your destination to wrap gifts since in many cases if they come across a wrapped package, they'll have to unwrap it to inspect it. And since they check over 3 million bags daily, you probably won't like the re-wrap. This will apply to both carry-on and checked bags. See more from Leisure + Travel at - https://bit.ly/3LMwGxF

As for your tech...
1.Make sure to back up devices and camera memory cards before you travel.
2. Use complex passwords on all your devices.
3. Don't place your phone in the security bin by itself unless the agent tells you to. Keep it in your carry-on in a pocket.

Question, what is the worst thing you can buy when it comes to your privacy? It's not your phone, security camera, or even your vacuum cleaner. It could be your CAR. There is some scary data from car manufacturers indicating that they collect, and see, a lot of your personal information. It can go to data brokers, advertisers and your insurance company. Here are some numbers. Nearly all, over 90% of car companies give you little or no control over personal data collected. Three quarters of them sell your data outright, and over half said they'd share it with the government or law enforcement if asked. Curious about what your car is collecting? Use Gmail or Outlook? You're now more a target for phishing than before. A recent Q3 Email Threat Trends Report showed that 90% of phishing attacks are targeting these two platforms. Out of 1.8 billion emails analyzed in the quarter, there were 26 million MORE malicious emails compared to the same period last year.

Defense remains the same. User training, email gateways, and filtering. With the holiday season starting it will be challenging for sure. Check out the full article from Cyber Security News - https://bit.ly/3JVdOvK

If you're a security professional and think you're having a bad day, don't fret. Jewels worth over $100 million were taken in broad daylight from the Louvre last month. A series of security lapses which included physical security failures, lack of situational awareness, and outdated software allowed the theft to occur. This is part of a long history of issues at the museum. In a 2014 report the video surveillance system password was set as LOUVRE. It's not known if that was still the password during this recent heist. The Louvre's holding has an estimated value of $35 billion.

Did you know your device's Bluetooth name can give away your identity?

“Jane's iPhone 15” tells strangers your name, gender, device type, even your employer if it’s a work phone. Change the name to something generic like Device_07. Or, have some fun, Agent 007, and stay invisible to nearby scans. A small change can be a big privacy and safety win.

🐠 Be on the Lookout for Phishing Tricks - Watch for messages offering “free treats.” Check the source before you click, or that “candy” could bite back.
🧙‍♂️ Conjure Strong Password Spells - Fool attackers with cryptic combinations of numbers, letters, and symbols and make them into a ghoulish phrase.
🧟‍♂️ Kill your Digital Zombies - Bury any old, unused accounts, services you don't use, or old online games.
🧛‍♂️ Be on Guard for Data Vampires - Be cautious about allowing permissions to apps. They may want to take a bite out of your personal data.
👻 Be on the Lookout for “The Phantom” - Scammers that impersonate trusted entities are lurking in the darkness. If you get contacted by your bank, a government organization or other company, verify their identity before doing any transactions.

This Halloween, remember that the most effective defense isn't a silver bullet or a cross; it's cyber awareness and good cyber hygiene.
