Crazy how fast spring disappears sometimes. Between work, kids, and life running wide open, I only made it out a couple days this turkey season.

But sometimes that’s all it takes. Late season bird came in quiet and gave me one good opportunity. Grateful to punch a tag and spend a little time in the woods before the season closed up shop.

The older I get the more I appreciate just getting out there. 🦃

Luke brought his Hoyt over for a little refresher and we got it dialed back in with some fresh V***r Trail Archery strings. A few tweaks, a few arrows down range, and now it’s time to let the reps take over. Turkey season success!

There’s something special about watching your buddy punch a first tag. 🐻🍁

This bear rolled in around 7 PM and decided to test Kane’s patience for a solid half hour before finally giving him a tight little window. When the moment came, he stayed calm, let the Maxima arrow fly, and 70 yards later we had our hands on Kane’s first ever bear.

Pretty dang cool getting to swap seats and sit behind the camera for this one. Watching the emotion hit after the shot might’ve been better than pulling the trigger myself.

Canada has treated us unbelievably well once again. The long sits, rain, laughs, and late nights always seem to turn into memories we’ll carry forever. 🇨🇦🏹

Heck of a first sit 🌧️🐻

We had a couple smaller bears slip in before the woods turned into a full blown monsoon. Kane and I stayed planted through the rain, soaked to the bone and hoping the weather would break. Right before it stopped, this bruiser appeared at 5 yards… and honestly, that felt about 4 yards too close 😅

He skirted us and disappeared. For a second I thought the chance was gone, but I caught a glimpse of black moving on the hill and knew he was coming back in.

I drew once and held for what felt like forever. Two minutes at full draw waiting for one lane that never opened. Let the bow down. Waited some more. Heart pounding loud enough I swear Kane could hear it over the rain dripping from the trees.

At 8:40 PM the moment finally came. One perfect arrow. Double lungs. 60 yards later we had our hands on an absolute tank of a bear.

Now it’s Kane’s turn with plenty of time left to punch his first bear tag 👊🔥
