A kid drops a card in the ball pit forty minutes into the visit.
On a lot of systems, that's the end of it. The value was on the card, the card is gone, and somebody at guest services is quietly working out how much goodwill to hand back before the afternoon turns.
On ours it isn't a decision. What a guest buys lives in their account, not on the plastic. Reissue the card, the balance is still there, nobody negotiates, and the family goes back to playing.
The old card gets switched off the moment you reissue, too. Whoever fishes it out of the pit later can't spend a single credit on it.
