Microsoft recently issued a warning about a emerging Wi-Fi threat targeting Windows PCs, and we’ve already seen several customers suffer Microsoft 365 account takeovers as a result.

Because these attacks can easily trick even savvy users, raising immediate awareness is critical.

Two quick steps to keep your team secure on the road:
• Make sure MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) is strictly enforced.
• Encourage employees to stick to personal hotspots or a trusted VPN when working away from the office.

Microsoft has confirmed a widespread Russian hacking campaign targeting hotel Wi-Fi networks is stealing Microsoft 365 credentials and delivering malware to Windows PCs.

Working with customers who have 10GB/s internet connections, we did some performance testing using a UDM-PRO MAX as a router on a stick connected via fiber SFP (10Gb/s) to a USW-PRO Aggregation switch, a Server hosting Ipef3 connected at 25GB/s over fiber (SFP-28) and a MacBook M4 using Unifi's thunderbolt 10GB/s adapter. When on the same VLAN we see full speed at ~9.41 Mb/s on iPerf3. With IPS enabled sever/mac on different VLANS we get 2.21Gb/s routing speed. The same test with IPS disabled on different VLANS ~9.22GB/s. For customers who need IPS and to be able to handle 10GBs connections, the UDM-PRO-MAX isn't fast enough to handle this scenario. We have also tested the UDM-PRO and UXG-Fiber and found similar results with IPS on and off.

Navigating UniFi CyberSecure Compatibility with Advanced Hosting Routers

If you're considering UniFi CyberSecure for your network security needs, here's a quick heads-up about its compatibility with certain UniFi routers, particularly those using external controllers, such as the UXG-Pro or UXG-Fiber. These "advanced hosting" routers rely on an external UniFi Network Application Controller rather than hosting one internally, unlike the UniFi Dream Machine (UDM) series.

As of now, the stable firmware version 4.1.13 for these advanced hosting routers does not fully support UniFi CyberSecure, even though subscriptions are available for purchase. To enable full compatibility, you’ll need to upgrade to the beta firmware version 4.3.0 and pair it with UniFi Network Application Controller version 9.3. While this configuration enables CyberSecure functionality, keep in mind that beta firmware may include some quirks, as it’s still in testing and not yet considered production-ready.

For those using a UDM with a built-in cloud key, you’re in luck—CyberSecure works seamlessly with these devices right out of the box. If you’re running an advanced hosting router and prefer to stick with stable, production-ready firmware, it might be worth holding off on a CyberSecure subscription until a stable release fully supports it.

Yesterday marked 20 years that I began what was known as CC Consulting as my side hustle while working full time as a Payload and General Support Computer Engineer (PGSC) at NASA. Just an option to consider if you need business backup internet and you want to host your own systems... T-mobile is offering business 5g wireless with a static IPV4 address for $63 a month plus all the government fee's. Definitely worth a consideration if you live in a t-mobile service area with reasonable 5G reception.

For those of you who run UISP from Ubiquiti and have gotten the dreaded app is loading please wait 1 minute screen that never ends. I have found a fix. run the following command line command sudo ~unms/app/unms-cli update. If docker update fails which it did in my case, you can skip the docker update and choose update which will rebuild the container. If you want to update the docker you can do so at another time it may not be required. But this fixes UISP when it randomly dies.
