Most people will look at this and say this is a picture of a computer screen, it’s a showing a heat warning for weather, they’ll notice the date, the update warning or that it’s a little dusty.

What I noticed is that it is running Windows 10 operating system, which had an end date of Oct 2025. Windows computers should be on Microsoft Windows 11 OS.

It’s worse because this is at a LV local business office which handled sensitive patient data and must follow HIPAA standards. I audited their offices and found several risks like this outdated OS.

This wealth management firm suffered a breach because of a cloud environment third party vendor they were using. Customers data such as names, SSN's, and account numbers were exposed. The business, Hunter Associates, is currently being investigated for a potential class action lawsuit.

Verifying your vendors is one aspect of Cybersecurity, and is a reason why you should be compliant as well.
