Where is all of the money from the new infrastructure bill going, and how can NTCA members take advantage of it? The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act provided $65 billion in funding for broadband deployment and adoption programs, including $42.5 billion for the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program, which the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) will oversee and states/territories will implement by issuing grants to broadband providers.

We are proud to join forces with ACA Connects to establish the BEAD Program State-by-State Tracking Project. As NTIA awards funding to each state later next year and as each state moves forward to award grants, we will be providing NTCA and ACA Connects Members with reports that include up-to-date information about requirements and actions for each state. We are so proud of our CEO Shirley Bloomfield, who was among those who stood behind President Biden as he signed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act into law this week. This landmark bill includes a once-in-a-generation investment of $65 billion in funding for broadband, as well as several NTCA priorities: a priority for scalable networks, funds directed to unserved areas first, a challenge process to avoid overbuilding, a vetting system to ensure applicants can provide the services promised, program/agency coordination, and the ability to align funds across programs.
