Losing money on the first job doesn’t always mean it was a bad customer.

If you spent $1,000 to get them and the first job only brought in $800, you’re down $200 upfront.

But if that customer keeps coming back, now the math starts to change.

That’s why you can’t judge what a customer is worth off one transaction.

You have to understand what they could be worth to your business over time.

Google Search Console is no longer just a website tool.

Platform properties officially rolled out, so I went ahead and added mine.

That’s what you’re looking at in the screenshot.

Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube are now sitting inside Search Console right next to my website.

This is not showing website traffic. It’s showing how people are finding my social content through Google.

You can now see:

The search terms people used before landing on your TikTok.

The countries your Instagram traffic is coming from.

The YouTube video you posted eight months ago that is suddenly starting to gain traction again.

Until recently, most of this was a black box.

Google tested an earlier version back in December, but it relied on Google automatically detecting and connecting your accounts.

Now you can add each platform yourself.

You don’t even need to own a website to use Search Console anymore, which is a pretty major change by itself.

But here’s the part I think most people are going to overlook.

Search Console just became an even stronger keyword research tool.

The search queries bringing people to your Reels and TikToks can help you decide which pages to build on your website.

At the same time, the pages already performing well on your website can tell you what topics you should be posting about on social media.

Same audience.

Two different channels.

One data set helping guide both strategies.

I’ve seen plenty of Search Console updates over the years.

Some are useful, and some are just another dashboard to look at.

This one feels like an actual shift.

If you manage content for a brand, go add your accounts. Each platform needs to be verified separately, but the process only takes a few minutes.

The people who start collecting this data now will have months, potentially a full year, of insights before most businesses even realize the feature exists.

Directories are a starting point for off-site SEO.

Not the finish line.

If you’re trying to build visibility, trust, and authority in your niche, you have to look beyond basic listings.

We call this the Dream 100 approach.

That means looking at opportunity types like:

Directories
Podcasts
Blogs
Influencers
Sponsorships
Nonprofit resources
B2B partners
Chambers of commerce
Trade associations
Speaking opportunities
Best-of awards

And the list keeps going.

The goal is not to get listed anywhere you can.

The goal is to figure out where your business should be showing up across the web.

In the system we use, it becomes a lot easier to discover these opportunities.

Because Google is not only looking at your website.

It is looking at the signals around your brand.

Who mentions you.

Who links to you.

Where you are listed.

What sites associate with your business.

Directories matter.

But they are only one piece of a bigger visibility system.

Every restaurant agency pitch starts the same way.

A bigger number than you were expecting.

And a promise that the bigger number is what it takes to “compete in this market.”

In Las Vegas, that pitch hits different.

Because this city has two audiences stacked on top of each other.

Locals who eat here every week.

Tourists who are here for three nights and gone.

Agencies love that complexity because it makes the plan sound bigger.

More channels.

More campaigns.

More ads.

More content.

More “we need to be everywhere.”

Here’s the problem.

Your margins don’t care how complex the market is.

Restaurant owners already have enough pressure.

Food costs are high.

Labor costs are high.

Rent, insurance, supplies, payment fees, and utilities are not getting cheaper either.

For a lot of restaurants, the difference between a profitable month and a break-even month is only a few percentage points.

That means marketing cannot just sound good.

It has to earn its place next to payroll, food costs, and rent.

If your agency’s pitch does not start with your margins, your average ticket, your customer value, and what the budget is actually supposed to move…

Then it’s probably not a strategy.

It’s a sales pitch.

And I say that from experience.

Not just from working on websites and marketing.

But from having restaurant investments under my belt and seeing how quickly the numbers can get tight behind the scenes.

A bigger budget is not always the answer.

Sometimes the better move is a smaller budget with a clearer job.

Many Las Vegas businesses don’t need random backlinks.

They need local authority.

There’s a difference.

A backlink from some random site might look good in a report.

But a mention from a local chamber, vendor, event, publication, or community page can actually help build trust around your business.

That matters for local SEO.

Especially in Vegas, where a lot of businesses are competing for the same map pack spots.

The truth is, links work better when the foundation is already there.

Your service pages need to be clear.

Your Google Business Profile needs to match what your site says.

Your reviews, content, and local signals need to support the same message.

Links are not a shortcut.

They’re an amplifier.

And if your site is already built the right way, the right local links can help push things forward.

That’s the part many people miss.

New websites can be tough when there’s no clear plan.

A lot of people think SEO should be the first move right away, but that’s not always the case.

If the site is brand new, has no authority, and the business needs revenue faster, ads may make more sense in the beginning.

That doesn’t mean you ignore SEO.

The site should still be built with the right structure, clean pages, and a strong foundation from day one.

But ads can help bring in traffic, test the offer, and give you real data while SEO starts building in the background.

SEO matters.

But timing matters too.
